Omnilogic Firmware 4.3 Errors

I upgraded to 4.3.2 and since then I’m having intermittent connection issues with the Hayward iOS app. Sometimes commands sent from the app don’t register on the main unit, and other times they are delayed. Sometimes the app just shows the loading animation without ever connecting. I’ve noticed when using haywardomnilogic.com web access (not iOS app) it always works, all commands work right away and no connection issues.

Im also noticed I’m getting some IGW client errors in the logs. I’ve attached images of these logs here.

Since the website works fine but the app doesn’t, I have to suspect that there is something wrong with the iOS app or perhaps their server. I know my network snd router are fine, port 5858 is open as well, and I’ve never had problems prior to the upgrade.

Hayward support is useless, all they keep telling me is to hard reset the OmniLogic unit and my home wifi/router.

Is anyone else having these issues?

Haven't noticed any issues yet at my end but the Hayward website can be a bit flakey so suspect the issue is with their server

I'm seeing issues with the Android app as well. Open it and sometimes it delays connecting for 10-30 seconds, sometimes it doesn't connect at all. I can always connect from my PC.

Both the app and web page do not connect directly to the Omni. They connect to a Hayward server which then connects to your Omni. The issue is obviously with the Hayward connection to the server from mobile apps (mobile and web connections generally use different code to connect). If the issue were in the Omni, then both mobile and web would have issues.

I'm sending a note to a guy in support that I've worked with before on issues... we'll see what happens.

Agree, the website works flawlessly for me but the app doesn’t. It’s frustrating when support keeps pointing to my network being the issue (I.e. reboot, reconnect, as the solution). If there was something wrong with my network or the OmniLogic unit then the Hayward website wouldn’t work in controlling my unit, but it does work!

I am having the exact same issue as posted above, its been driving me crazy,
I tried different access points, hardwiring ethernet to the controller and ping tests show no lag or dropped packets.
I wonder if we can roll back the firmware or not. Never had this issue prior to 4.3.2 firmware.

I don't think it has anything to do with the firmware. This looks to be an issue with Hayward servers. If it were the firmware, then you would see the issue with the web page as well. The firmware doesn't know if you're connecting via web or mobile - it just gets a message from Hayward in a specific format.

I sniffed the packets from the Hayward OmniLogic app as the app loads. See attached images. I did this for when the app loads fine and when the app just spins on loading and never loads. It seems when app doesn’t load it’s waiting for some packet data to be received from the sever but never gets it, I suspect it’s during the initial handshake between app <> server <> OmniLogic unit (you can compare the two screen shots).

209.144.50.126 is the server the app connects to. You can open this in your browser as well and it takes you to the web site version to control OmniLogic. When the app doesn’t load this website works fine to control my unit.

Note, the OmniLogic unit connects to app1.HaywardOmniLogic.com which is 104.239.157.12.

I suspect the issue is on their end.

Hayward support is useless and my inquires are ignored. Hope someone else has more luck with this in getting their attention.

Also seems like 209.144.50.126 is demo.haywardomnilogic.com

I wonder if the app always connected to the “demo” url? Should it not be to app1 server? Perhaps this is the issue. If someone has an older apk on android installed the try packet sniffing to see which domain/ip it connects to - can’t do this on iOS.

Experiencing the issues above with the app on iSO after the upgrade as well. Usually (not always) resolved after closing/restarting the app or a phone reboot.

Re: app taking a long time to load. If you log out and then uncheck remember me (or something to that effect) then log back in again. The log out again and recheck the remember me box it will fix the lag issue when opening the app.

I've had similar issues. The App is not working well for me at all. I get the same results with the web-page. I have to open/close the app and toggle things on/off several times and then watch on my Security Cameras at home to see if the action has finally been executed. Very frustrating to say the least.

Enough is enough. It’s time for a class action. They sold this thing as better than sliced bread, charged a commensurate price, and delivered rotten bread. If I could get my money back I’d go with a manual timer and manual valves. That works every time and if I have to go to the pad to check on things every time anyway, might as well just do things old-fashioned foolproof.

I have been having problems with the app ever since they updated it.

I had heater schedules disappear, the heater pump speed reset to 50% and was giving me a LO error and now I cannot independently operate my waterfall and sheers.

It is very frustrating and I can’t seem to get any real support on the issue from Hayward or pool professionals.
