Filter on but program not scheduled to run

CF,

I understand that you want the pump to come on and go off with a schedule, but how is it running when bad???

Does the pump run 24/7, or does it come on at a set time and go off at a set time.

Edit.. Sounds like you might have found it.. :goodjob:

Thanks,

Jim R.

Hmmm... So how to you turn it off when you find it running unexpectedly?

Some things to check:
  • Time-of-day clock set in the app. Menu | Set Date/Time We're talking solid 90's tech here. Not yet an internet-synced clock.
  • Verify that the app thinks it's on when you find it running after 10am. (App shows "switch" in on position or icon lit in Web.) Maybe the pump relay is sticking?
  • Verify it's really going from off to on at 6am. If so, that tells us a few things are working as intended.
  • Is your pump variable speed? If so, there can be more than one pump schedule set. Menu | Schedule. A second schedule could explain extra run time.
  • Another possibility if the pump is VS is that the control cable from the AquaLink box has disconnected. If so, the pump's internal settings might take over.
If none of this helps, post some pictures of the iAqualink settings pages.

One other note is that I have the rising pH thing, too. The advice of experts here is that it's okay to let TA go down to 60 and pH anywhere in the "7's" is not bad. As in 7.8 or 7.9. With that approach, my pool is good for weeks at a time. No algae blooms (knock wood) or complaints about the water.

All, thank you so much for the replies! So helpful to hear your thoughts even if I (hopefully) found the culprit. My pump is variable speed and I just use the little aqua link remote to turn it on or off if I want it to run outside of the scheduled time. THANK YOU for the tip on the pH! I dump acid in there pretty much weekly to bring it down from 7.8/7.9. It seems to like 7.8 and will stay there for a couple weeks if I let it. Since we solved that problem, I wondered if you could help with another issue-

It’s more an annoyance than a problem so I have done much about it, but my shallow end return (there are two in the pool) makes HUGE air bubbles pretty constantly but only when the cleaner is running? The cleaner runs from another pipe (is this a return? Idk the name for it) a few feet down from the bubbling one. It’s really loud and belchy- sometimes it even blows water so forcefully that it splashed out of the pool. There is no air in my pump basket and I’ve tried letting any air out of the cartridge filter a billion times but it does no good.

CF,

I assume you have suction side cleaner.. If so, when it is running you are sucking air into the system and it builds up in your filter.

Show us several pics of your equipment pad. I'd like to see all the valves and how they are interconnected.

Thanks,

Jim R.
