What is the thoughts of a sealant for brushed concrete decking. I have a newly installed deck and already seeing staining from Bird poo and tree seeds. Is there a reccomended product out there?

thanks,

You should use a penetrating sealer usually they are made of silane siloxane. You need to make sure it is a quality one with enough "solid" content so that it will be good for 5-10 years. Penetrating sealer do what the name imply to get "deep" into the concrete to avoid bad elements to get into the concrete. This will help also the stains to remain surface stains that are easier to remove but concrete is porous so it will never be easy to keep clean.

I've never used the product but Home Depot has one called Siloxa-Tek 8500 by Ghostshield. Product says it's good for pools because it protects against salt. It does not make the surface glossy. I personally like the glossy look on washed aggregate

Thanks for the suggestion has anybody tried these products and had success with a pool. I really want something that could repel stains and be easy to clean maybe that's a myth. I remember way back when my grandfather used to swear by a product he coated his Deck with and it was a miracle cure for everything repelled stains repelled water made the deck last a hundred years..... I'm not really worried about salt because I think that is more for if you put salt to melt snow and ice which I know can damage concrete. That would be magnitudes of order higher salt concentration then needed for a swg.

Thanks for all the input
