Has anyone installed an in-ground pool near old, large trees?

Just wondering if they would have to be cut down, or if we could keep them and still have the pool.

Wife loves the trees and would rather have the cleanup of the tree droppings in the pools than get rid of them. But I worry about roots and so forth.

The root system for live oaks can expand 2-3X the size of it's canopy, which in your case would cover the entire yard. I would also hate to lose such beautiful trees. How far can you get the pool from the trees? I definitely wouldn't go closer than 30' from the pool shell, and I'd try for 50' or more if possible.

Eek! 30 feet is almost the entire yard 😬

Can get 15 feet from the trees.

Thank you for your knowledge!

Beautiful yard and tree.... BUT.... tree debris and roots are only half the problem. Shade will keep a pool colder and you would probably want to have a heater installed.

Yes I agree on the shade and colder. If it were up to me, they’d be coming down. But to my wife that is like a sin. So i’m trying to see if there is any way to make it work.
