Hey all,

For the last two years I've used a Jacuzzi Comet robotic vacuum to clean our large (16'x32') above ground Intex. I originally purchased the vac for a small pool with a tiny pump. The vac is on the fritz and the repair shop says Jacuzzi no longer supports or has parts so I'm on the hunt for a new cleaning system. I've got what I believe is a .75hp Intex pump so this time am thinking I go with a unit which plugs into the pump vs. robotic. Intex makes one - the ZX300 that seems to be OK based on amazon reviews. It's $170 on amazon. The pool store recommended the Zodiac M6 which comes in at $300. Curious if anyone has any feedback or recommendations. It's hard to find HP size or GPH needs to determine if non-Intex models like the Zodiac will work. My pump says it does 2150 GPH in terms of circulation volume.

Any thoughts/ideas?

I'd recommend the E10, manufactured by Maytronics. You just plug it in to an outlet and it does its thing on the floor of the pool. I am sorry its more than the ones you list but I truly think if you're dealing with a large pool and depending on how heavy your debris is (leaves, dust, etc) it may very well be a better buy for you.

If you call Margaret up at Marina Pool and Spa in Colorado, she can advise you as well as give you better prices than what is listed, tax and shipping free. Buying on the phone is considered "in-store" for warranty purposes which is a bonus. :)

The intex cleaner you mentioned is a pressure side cleaner (screws into the return jet which propels it & then it catches debris in an on board mesh trap) whereas the zodiac is a suction side cleaner (attaches to the intake or skimmer & sends debris to your existing filter) With both models you are dependent upon your pump’s power & you also lose the use of either a return jet or skimmer/suction port so skimming the surface is hindered during operation.

A robotic unit like a Dolphin that Maddie suggested operates independently of your pump & filter & contains the debris it catches until you empty the basket. There is no effect on skimming, pump run time & no hoses to fiddle with.
