We have folks coming over next weekend. We've been heating the pool, and it's up to our normal summer comfy temp of 87. With an expected high of 70, and lows on the low 60s, what do you think a good swim temp would be?

I heated our pool a few weeks ago when the highs varied around upper 70s. I got in daily when water was between 85-90, along with the kids and the wife some days. If you’re swimming and moving around a lot 85 is fine but a little chilly, we found ourselves hovering around the returns to warm up. But when the water was 90 it was 🤩

Must be nice to swim in Feb. The desert temps here in Las Vegas preclude swimming till the end of April. My family says heat the pool, heat the pool. I am not trying to raise the water from 51 degrees to 87 so they can go swimming for a couple of hours. I don’t think I can raise 25k gallons economically, anyway. So they are going to have to wait for April to swim but they can lounge around in the spa at 90 degrees.

We did this for one day in Charlotte earlier this year when snow was in the forecast on a Saturday (which pretty much never happens) and we wanted to have a "full hot tub" party. We have a small pool (under 8K gallons) and it took about $200 in gas to get it from the 50's to 97 (since it was supposed to be a giant hot tub). It was epic but definitely an indulgence and if I had 25K gallons I wouldn't dream of it :)

Yo,
Was just peaking at your poolmath log to see the levels but your FC in the log of late is missing and the few before are too low. Get the level up where it should be before you get a surprise. Also no mention of the CC and CYA level.

I don't always log in poolmath, but we're tracking closely. With warm temps forecasted, we've started heating the pool for the season, and I'm monitoring the chemistry to keep everything in balance.
