1-4 ppm of FC is a recipe for disaster. Being down south you’ll consume on the higher side of the 2-4 ppm of daily FC loss, plus some more for heavy swim days. Which would put you at 0 many times.
Plus, many of their tests aren’t reliable, or aren’t performed reliably time after time again. Nobody will care for your pool like you do. The store who is there to fleece you of your monies with highly marked up generic chems would LOVE for you to be out of whack. It’s interesting that they sent you home empty handed, but they may be playing the long game knowing you’ll spend a small fortune when you get a swamp.
Get a reliable test kit that you can trust. Then trust it.
Also, Welcome to TFP !!! The hardest part is getting here. Everybody has smooth sailing after that.
Those numbers, if they can be trusted. are fairly good. The issue is they cannot be trusted. Pools store test results are rarely correct and typically not repeatable. Get your own proper test kit and do your own testing. And I agree with the above, maintain a higher chlorine level. The 2 numbers that will keep your pool the cleanest are CYA and Chlorine. How did that "32" parts CYA get into the water? Did you add it? With a saltwater generator TFP recommends a CYA level of 70. Once you have an accurate CYA test, you will know what chlorine number to target.
Leslie's recommendations are based on old pool care standards from decades go. TFP bases their recommendations on newer science that created the FC/CYA Levels that we all follow. If you haven't yet you should read up on the way we do things here: ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry Recommended Levels FC/CYA Levels
and get a test kit so you can test your own water Test Kits Compared
Also, we have found most of the chems you need to add to adjust your pool's chemistry can be bought at the supermarket for a fraction of the cost that a pool store will charge you. Yet another reason not to get sucked into buying pool store potions.
