So I have a 15' x 54" round saltwater LX AGP manufactured by Trendium which I'm planning to install semi-inground in the next couple of weeks. I would like to omit the top cap to reduce the total pool height so I can run decking over the edge of the pool (to act as "coping") . I've seen a number of posts on TFP on this topic, but many seem to interchange "top rail" and "top cap". My impression is the top rail (labelled "A" or "stabilizer" in the attached pic) is structural and removing would not be smart. The top cap, however, seems to be basically cosmetic (labelled "f" or "top ledge"). Removing the top cap would allow me to get the decking closer to the top of the top rail.

Has anyone on TFP done something like this with their AGP?

If it was my past above-ground, that top edge would be wiggling like a mad thing when swimmers are in the pool without the top rail (F). If you do eliminate it, I'd make sure it has some solid backing to stop it moving, and protection so that pinch points for stray fingers are eliminated. When someone belly-flops, cannonballs or bombs into pool, there's a lot of force exerted.

If there is a good way to go with out it, I would. Simply because my pool is less then three years old, and the top rails are bowed like crazy. They are not bowed because of people standing on them when entering pool either. It just happens over time. I have noticed though on my pool the top rail is in the position, of keeping the rails marked A in drawing from lifting up and off pool
