Hey all! This forum has been awesome so far and gave me the courage needed to dump my pool boy. Finally received my TF-100 Pro today and ordered and E30 robot cleaner.

I’m also glad I reviewed in depth, as my salt cell generator has been screaming 2500 PPM but I actually measured 3800 PPM today. Perhaps it’s some of the small calcium build up?

just saying thanks and look forward to chatting with you guys! I have some work to do to get all my levels right, but my pool is crystal clear after hitting a green spell with a dead pump two weeks ago.

Welcome to TFP!

Thanks! Added my first batch of Muriatic acid today. PH dropped perfect, per Pool Math, from 7.8 to 7.4. Next up is to test the TA and see where we are at. Curious though - What drives the TA up? I tested my fill water and was at 60PPM out of my city water faucet. Perhaps TA was driven up by products my previous pool service used?

Usually either someone adds a product like baking soda or Alkalinity Up from the pool store, or fresh water top-offs have an elevated TA level.
Thanks! I added 3 cups of 31% acid today and it drastically affected PH. But the TA didn’t budge. I’m assuming this is going to be a long process? Does TA take a while to knock down with multiple iterations of acid, or should I have seen some decrease today already?

The trick is to let the pH hit high at about 8.0, then use enough acid to knock the pH down to 7.0. That wide range of drop will impact the TA more each time. Of course aerate or let the pH rise back to 8.0 and repeat. It will take a few attempts, but you should see a difference.
