Florida woman finally building a pool!

I have pavers!! It makes the pool look bigger. I am very happy with how turned out. Do they normally come back out and add more sand? After installing? I have a good amount of sand and gravel left over. I can see some of the pavers need more sand added and felt one wobbly.

The pavers turned out lovely! I am with you, waiting for my pool. I hoped for Memorial Day but now and crossing my fingers for July4th! You probably said it upthread somewhere but what are you doing for plaster/pebble?

Thank you! Yes, about 4 weeks ago I came to terms I would not have by Memorial Day..but will take advantage of the sales as I need so much for my patio. I went with Stonescapes Aqua White.

It's so hard. Last month I was hoping ours would be done by the time kids were out of school. Friday is their last day and our pool is still not done. Now hoping by July... 624C2011-235F-4670-8B6A-906B1708B232.jpeg

Im in Orlando too and my pool started about the same time as you and I’m still waiting for them to finish. Was hoping for a Memorial Day party as well 😭

How did I miss your tile? It’s beautiful! We have aqua white and I love the color. Your tile is so different than ours so I’m anxious to see how the plaster looks with yours.

Thank you @Nikilyn I am curious too. The tiles are more on the green and aqua side but I think the aqua white will balance everything.
@kimkats Will do! I will take some blue tape and mark. I can see the sand grout not filled in some spots so they need to do that.
One super annoying thing that happened is the coping came in a big wood box. There were about 4 pieces plus the scraps in it. I did not think to put them away and once pavers were done I noticed all the large paver scraps were in the coping container. I told the guys but they swore it was empty, but I know I saw them. Without the pieces I would not have any spare. So this morning I moved all I could and at the very bottom I found 4 pieces. Thank goodness they were in good shape. Lesson learned - move the left overs before they get considered trash! We also have lots of gravel and sand so need to move that if want to keep.

So I have a question. We are adding a white PVC fence across our driveway to my neighbors fence. I guess we had another foot that we could have put one more row of pavers. Prior I didn't think we would have the room and were ok with a foot and a half behind the sheer decent. But now that I can see I can add a foot I have to figure out what to do. They did add concrete footer so that would need to be chipped so that will be an expense. Also my husband noticed its at a slope and in the end it will be higher than my driveway. So I wonder if easier to just add rocks instead of a row of pavers. I have no idea how PIA rocks can be, if there is danger having so close to glass tile on sheer decent, or are weeds an issue? What does everyone think? I think white rocks might look nicest.

So the fence will be where you put the words about it?

Where does the deck drain send the water to?

Have you had a big rain since the deck and deck drain were put in? I wonder where the water will go with the deck being higher than the driveway.

If you put pavers in that area behind the wall where will that water go?

Having rock there will not be a problem IF you do not have kids or adults that act like kids  that may throw the rocks. You say there is cement there so no worries about weeds. White rocks would be very pretty!

@wireform Ok, good to know. I am not sure what I can do before inspection is complete. I think I will need to ask the pool builder to do it and I imagine they will want to edit the permit. Do you think it is possible to do after the fence instal? I think the fence will be right at a foot out so should work.

@kimkats
Yes, fence will go straight across and block people looking into my pool from the street and driveway. I had to build my pool on the side of my house.
The deck drain sends the water to the other end of the deck, opposite side.
No big rain yet, but I could hose it to see where water on that side goes.
That is a good point, if I put pavers in that area behind the wall where will that water go? Hmm, I need to figure that out. Excellent point Kim!
My kids are 14, 15, 17, 22, 24, and 53😀...but they wouldn’t dare throw rocks. There is just a little bit of concrete holding up the pavers but there would be dirt under the rocks if I do go with rocks.

In Arizona we have rocks everywhere 😜. They surround our pool. We've never had a problem with kids throwing them in the pool. Not to say we've never had one in the pool but it's not something we worry about. Here's a pic of my son and grandson with the rocks in the background. It's the only pic I have where you can see the rocks.
