UT New Build - Update (start up 5/21)

All done. Waiting to start the water and going to grab a picture of the meter. They said wait 30mins to an hour. I’ve read a couple of hours. It’s been 3 1/2 hours since they first started spraying the plaster. I figured would wait at least another hour.

@kimkats or anyone that might know. We are 27 hours in of filling our pool. I've been keeping an eye on it the whole time. I had a meeting, and I guess there was a big wind storm that blew a bunch of debris and pollen into the pool pretty close to the time it was just coming over the edge for the tanning ledge. When I came out and noticed it I hurried and brushed most of it off the ledge but it left this yellow line. Should I do anything about it? Just leave it for now? I'm not sure I should have even brushed it off to begin with.

lots of brushing and well balanced water should help get rid of it. It may take some time. IF, down the road a month or so, it is still there there is something else you can do but lets see what the brushing and balanced water does for now.

Thanks, @kimkats!

Pool is finally full, wow that took longer than I thought. I clocked 17,050 gallons on the water meter. They are supposed to come get the pool equipment fired up today. We have new ducks visitors that want to make the pool their new home, lol. We had to chase them off a couple of times.

It looks really good. 😃
I’m so sick of birds 😠! We don’t have ducks, they leave here and fly to you for the summer, but we have these annoying black birds that think our pool is a drinking fountain. They poop on the deck and annoy me. I really wish they’d go away.

Spray the ducks with a hose or get an inflatable alligator and let it float around. Loud noises will also scare them off.

See I would have never thought of that. Thanks, @BigPapaSmurf. Hopefully, the PB crew comes today to get the equipment rolling, and then we can just close the automatic cover. Otherwise, I'll be investing in an inflatable alligator :)

@mknauss I did my first test today. PB startup guy was here yesterday morning. He added about a gallon of liquid chlorine and a quarter gallon of muriatic acid. Granted, this is my first time using the test kit so maybe I did something wrong but this is what I got.

PH 8.2
FC 0 (solution did not turn pink at all when adding R-0870)
CC 0
CH 150 (6 drops)
TA 90
CYA (I couldn't get this to work, maybe because there seems to be no chlorine)

Suggestions on what do to from here? Thanks.

Is the pool builder controlling the start up? If no CYA your chlorine burns off quickly during the day.
unless it conflicts with your builder, you should add 30 ppm of stabilizer, 3 ppm of FC, and lower your pH to 7.4.

Why lower the ph to 7.4? I thought Pool Math suggests 7.8?

PB said to add 1 gallon of liquid chlorine and 1 gallon of 31.45% Muriatic Acid, wait 20 minutes and retest. They said not to add any CYA yet. I just put those in.
