New Pool Issues

Just bought a house in TX a couple months ago with a pool (first time pool owner). We've got a pool service company, that comes weekly. Yesterday, the guy cut the skimmers off cause the water was low. Not sure why he didn't just add water. Unfortunately I wasn't home when he was there, and was told he turned a bunch of valves and left.

I'm trying to figure out what the correct configuration for normal operation is. I've watched a few YouTube videos, but none seemed very detailed. Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated. Pool2.jpg

made the shown changes which got the sweeper going again. Lots of bubbles coming out of the jets now though? Should I be concerned or let it work itself out.

going on a couple hours now.
 
You have 2 skimmers. Make sure the basket isn't sucking in air and two ways it can happen
a) the water level too low
B) the weir door is stuck and not letting enough or any water into skimmer.
Make sure they're moving freely

Complete newbie here, so a lot of this is Greek to me.

water level in pool looks fine. As far as B), where are you actually referring to on the pool?
 
Water level needs to be half way up the skimmer opening, that's usually good. If you look into skimmer basket from the top with the cover off you don't want to see a funnel like action with the sound of air getting sucked in.
 
K, checked that also. No issues there either.

did notice this AM the pipe on the right by the return is busted @ the bottom. No idea how long that has been like that.

when I turn that valve water pours out. That pipe dead ended anyway so not sure if that’s the issue or not?

Then you'll need to keep the valve in pictured position. That's a return to the pool so I'd recommend you get it repaired otherwise you're losing lots clean water coming from filter and may be crucial to the pressure on your system.

assuming that could be causing the air bubbles also. Best to cut it off until someone can inspect?
