Water runs out of backwash fitting while in filter mode

Ok, more trouble recovering from my freeze. I'm working to get the pool water back, and so I vacuumed the pool and backwashed several times yesterday. Today, I noticed water streaming out of the backwash line even though I have been in Filter Position all day. It's not gushing like it does when I backwash, but it's not a trickle either. I'd say about a gallon every 5 minutes?

The filter is a Hayward Pro Series Sand Filter. Here are a couple of pictures.

If the above is the MPV you have, then there is a diffuser with gasket glued in available.
