I am in Massachusetts and the water level in my inground pool had almost reached the top recently from all the rain and snow we had since closing the pool in early October. When I closed the pool, I left the water level a little below the return jets. I am currently pumping out water to get the water level below the skimmer. How far below the skimmer should I go before I stop pumping out water, at this point in the winter (End of January)?

I would drain it 3 to 4” given average February precipitation for you is 3.3”.
