New Build - Houston, TX (Heights) - Finished Build!

Starting new build soon (permit applied for on Dec. 10, start in late Jan/early Feb), would like feedback on where to add a bench on benches in the pool, any ideas on location would be appreciated.
My original thought is to have a bench going along the west side (furthest from the house) and a bench in the corner area opposite the spa (near the house). The pool is just for my wife and I to relax, not to concerned about swimming laps or sports. The depth goes from 4' - 6', overall length is approx. 23' the width in the pool area is 11'.

Some specs:
All Pentair
+/- 11,000 gals
2 VS pumps (one for water features)
led for the lights, bubblers and sheer decents
pool automation - IntelliCenter
SWCG

Hi and welcome to TFP! What a lovely design they did. As for benches I would not add any. Your shelf and steps are right were they need to be for sitting and relaxing to watch TV and chat with others. No real need for a bench. I don't see a need for a bench in the pool. Now if you want to put a sitting spot under one of the water falls that might be neat as some people like the water to fall onto their shoulders. I would not do it as it will eat up a bit of you pool.

What are the dimensions of the pool?

I would LOVE to see a pic of where this pool is going!

Hi fellow Houstonian,
I like your pool design with the outdoor kitchen as well.
I have a waterfall and have a seat under it - it is great. So if I were to put a seat anywhere in your design would be under the water feature.
Great that you are running dual circulation systems - 1 for pool and 1 for water feature. I have similar and really pleased I have that.
I think your depths are perfect for this size pool and you have picked all the right stuff - IntelliCenter, SWCG, etc. Even though you have 11,000 gals, go with the biggest cartridge filter you can fit in your budget as that will help in long term maintenance.

Another vote for under the waterfall it's the most popular seat in our pool. Only thing i wish we did was extend the seat from the waterfall around to the sun shelf.

IF IT WERE MINE...I would lose the sun shelf and run the steps all the way across, so they double as steps and seating of various heights for people of various heights. That said, I don't know directions for the pool. If you keep the steps and sun shelf and still want a bench, then whichever is the west side would be my preference. East puts the afternoon sun in your face. Same for north most of the year.

Selected our water line and spa overflow tile (blue horizontal tile), feature wall near the shear decents (quartz split face), decking (grey porcelain tile 12x36), coping (marble looking travertine) and blue slate pebble sheen.

PRETTY!!!! LOVE the picks!

Now think about grout color. White will make each tile pop out where a medium gray will help them blend in together. BOTH are very pretty ways to do it. They should have grout sticks you can use to see how each color looks.

Lunada Bay tile is gorgeous! Here's an idea to try for the grout. I took pieces of paper and folded them and stuck between the tiles to mimic white grout. It completely changed the look of the tile.

For the gray look you can get some paint cards and do the same thing as @Nikilyn did with the white paper.

Thanks, for the decking I was thinking to have a grout very similar to the grey tile to blend the tiles all together for the decking. for the water line tile...I think a grey would or something not white would be best (I am afraid I will never keep the white grout clean!). New pool....so many choices!! Thanks for all the input!

Thanks for the tips...now the debate...for the raise water wall with the sheer decents we are doing the quartz, for the raised spa, our architect is recommending to wrap the outside in the blue tile (so spill over and raised wall on the outside of the spa, then capped with the travertine), however I think it might be to much with the tile and am considering the quartz. Thoughts? I did ask for some renderings to help us decide, but they are convinced the blue tile would like good.

Got the renderings to help decide on the quartz vs. blue tile...surprisingly, I think the best is the blue tile at the feature wall with the sheer decents!

My order would be 1, 2, 3. I like the contrast between the spa and wall. I'm also a fan of color. My sister would definitely pick 3 because her favorite come is white

. But I don't think you can go wrong with any of them because they are all beautiful.

Blue tile all of the way! It acts as an accent that way! Just think how pretty it will be when the sun hits it and the water and makes it BLING out!

Well, thought the dig was going to start end of Jan....then the gas line....oh the gas line, good news was when they located it by digging a trench it was closer to my fence so no issues with the pool location and no need to relocate the line...then rain...then a winter storm...now the issue is getting plumbers as they are dealing with a lot of broken pipes in Houston so I understand the delay and prefer they are helping people restore water to their homes, so still waiting for the dig/rebar/plumb/elec/gunite. Good news they completed the layout and inspection this week...and the cat has also approved the layout (I was worried)!
