My kid is on our local High school swim team. We have two pools in our area where teams practice. One pool was closed today due to high chlorine levels, the other was not.

Just got giggles I had my son grab a water sample and this is what I got. It’s a 6 lane lap pool and I estimate it holds 180,810 gallons.

The smell of chlorine hot you in the face when you got out of the car - some 100 yards away and the pool has a bubble over it. My son said he could taste the chlorine.

I’m sorta wondering if the County ran out of every chem and just threw in a bunch of shock or chlorine.

Would these numbers make sense if it’s a bromine pool? (But the smell!)

Oh if that "bubble" blocks uv, that's where the smell and most likely high cc's is coming from. I wonder if there is a uv system that failed?

Get another sample next time if you didn't get the CCs like Marty asked. It will be funny to see if its a 17...... or a 67.

I have no idea what type system they have.
Honestly, I’m so ELATED the kids are able to swim, I hesitate to ask!

Our County school system is still 100% virtual - has been since March. Despite attempts, the County could not be convinced to open the public pools this summer. So most of our swimmers are seeing water for the first time in a year! (Don’t get me started!)

Although it’s going to be a short season - six days of practice before the first meet, and only 5 meets this season - we’ll take it - dry skin, red eyes, faded suits and all)!
