WHAT? What is this I read??? PLASTER tomorrow?????
Now run out there and put some socks over the hose ends. This helps filter the water and keeps the metal off the new plaster. When they place the hoses in the pool make sure the end is right in the deepest part of the pool. This helps keep the flow of water from causing any channels in the new plaster.
Once the water starts flowing do NOT stop it for any reason!!! Stopping it could cause a ring in your new plaster!
Please know there might be a slight green color/tint to the water. That will go bye-bye as the water is balanced and the plaster cures so no worries!

ExcitingThank you all for the kind words.
They finished up the decking and prepped for plaster
Plaster gets shot tomorrow! Then an acid wash. Then fill
We decided to change our finish to pebble sheen Prism Blue and added 30% blue glass

Exciting
Pool looks great
What type/color plaster did you decide on again ?
Silly question, but I’ve thought about it also in NC and also plastering in the fall.....did they mention how they keep debri out of the pool during plaster.....it is raining leaves around here and can’t tell from your pictures if you have many nearby trees or not....I’m just curious as I plan to ask the PB and plaster company prior as we have lots of leaves in the Gunite shell due to the fall leaf drop
Your decking looks like it turned out really nicely....you happy with it ?
I am going to buy one of these...not just for start up but during the leafy season ...looks pretty straight forward and YouTube videos seems to show it is effective.....doesn’t solve it completely but hopefully makes the maintenance of leaves a bit better...My goal is to get them removed while on the surface vs before they sink.... we live on a wooded lot so kind of expected it, just trying to figure out the best methods or combination thereof
Good insight on the V sloped decking, I plan to get into those discussion hopefully in a few weeks when we are at that stage
Can’t wait to see your prism color with 30% blue glass...plaster color is by far an agonizing decision
Q: did you decide to seal your fieldstone vaneering or no ? I am debating whether to do it or not, and I don’t know if PB waterproofed the wall behind it or not .......
Right - I think the Poolskim is a great idea and I hope it helps with leaf debrisThanks for the tip on the poolskim, looks like that will be way better than my manual vacumming plan lol.
We did not seal anything. I put some French drains behind the pool in the trenches they dug for the plumbing with two catch basins on each side. I suppose if we get an excessive amount of seepage I could seal them later on.
Did you pick a plaster color yet?
Right - I think the Poolskim is a great idea and I hope it helps with leaf debris
we installed a French drain around most of the pool perimeter as well and backfilled with almost 18ton of gravel to help with drainage - we will see
do you know if they waterproofed the bond beam wall prior to vaneer - I’m not sure what my PB applied but know they spread something with a roller
color I am torn still - looked at Pebble Sheen Granite and Prism and StoneScapes Tropics Blue
we want a darker blue but our yard is part sun/shade for majority of the day and don’t want to go with a dark Blue like Ocean Blue and it look to dark under part shade
feels like a medium blue will look darker under part shade - we don’t want any green either but realize the trees might case some green onto water
Great thanks! The manual vacuum is the best best when leaves sink. it is not as easy as the robot but it is better for the new plaster.
That’s good to know about PrismI don’t think they applied anything to the bond beam wall.
We were in the same boat, wanting darker blue but having to deal with shade. Didn’t want it too dark, so we stayed in the medium blue family. I guess prism blue is supposed to be a tad darker than blue granite if you look on the sales sheet for pebblesheen.
That looks great! Do you have a rain gauge so you can see how much rain added to the pool in addition to the piped in water? Certainly no big deal but if you get multiple inches of rain you'll be a tad off on your calculation, maybe a few thousand gallons.
