Temperature Higher than settings.

Hey everyone,

I have a brand new Artesian Spa (2 weeks old) with a 24 hour circulation pump. Filtration is set to 24 hours. I have my settings at 96 but it was at 106 today. Could the pump be over heating and causing this? Should I allow the system to rest occasionally? I flipped the beaker today thinking something could be stuck.

I know nothing about hot tubs and the chemistry alone has been discouraging. I’ve spent so much time with chemicals to balance things I haven’t been able to enjoy the tub.

Your programmable filter cycles run the main pump, which will definitely overheat your spa if running continuously. Set your filter cycles for 2 hrs.

Will the 24 hour circulation still run when I set filter cycle for 2 hours? Sounds like it’s off after I changed it.

edit: I’ve looked at all the settings and it doesn’t have a circulation pump setting. It seems like that pump only comes on when filtration is on. I’m also reading that when filtration is on the heater will run. The manual says the below..

Circulation Pump Mode
If the system is equipped with a circulation pump, it will be configured to
work in one of three different ways:
1. The circulation pump operates continuously (24 hours) with the exception of turning off for 30 minutes at a time when the water temperature reaches 3°F (1.5°C) above the set temperature (most likely to happen in very hot climates).
2. The circulation pump stays on continuously, regardless of water temperature.
3. A programmable circulation pump will come on when the system is checking temperature (polling), during filter cycles, during freeze conditions, or when another pump is on.
The specific Circulation Mode that is used has been determined by the Manufacturer and cannot be changed in the field.

sorry I’m so lost in what to do

A 24 hour circulation pump is virtually silent when in good shape. Even if it does not have one, you cannot run your primary pump continuously without overheating.
If you want to post a pic of your control system (box under the skirting with all the wires going to it) and the area around it I can tell you more. Or call your dealer and verify that you got the circ pump.
