I have read in the forum that 2 skimmers are the way to go. My PB didn’t think It was necessary but is open minded to it so I pushed for it. Could you tell me the best place to put the skimmers and returns? I have a lot of trees around the property and was quoted for 4 returns. Thank you so much!
Wind direction is the most important factor. So determine your prevalent wind direction where the pool will be. Put the skimmers so one is in the direction of the most prevalent wind direction. The other in the second most prevalent.
Be sure each skimmer is run back to the equipment pad with its own dedicated suction line and valved for control.
Thank you for your advice! 2 returns are planned for the 8x16 Baja shelf. Would the 2 other returns be sufficient?
The wind primarily heads north toward the deep end bench. I wasn’t to sure about placing one above the bench? Also, I’m not sure where to place the other 2 returns to send debris towards the skimmers.
The returns are used to create a 'whirlpool' effect to send surface debris past the skimmers. So spacing them out is typically acceptable. Be sure each is run with a dedicated line back to the pad and individually valved for full control.
I am not keen on a skimmer at a bench. Is the bench across the entire end of the pool in that area?
Yes, the bench will run the entire length of the deep end and will be 16 feet in length. I was thinking that the return was there to aim at the skimmer. It sounds like I might be overthinking this!
