Building a new 18’x36’ capitol pool with sun ledge and jump rock. It is a vinyl pool with salt water and heater. We are the first people in our family to get a pool and we are excited.

Welcome to TFP. You are way ahead of the game by landing here. Maker sure you start reading up on ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry and buy the proper Test Kits Compared. I would highly recommend the speedstir. Please fill your signature with your pool specs and equipment so we can help you better. As for now you need to add cya and liquid bleach. Let us know what is the volume of your pool or use the PoolMath to figure out how much to add.

The deep end is 8ft and I’ll make sure to add all the other stuff.
I painted the pump PVC with camo green plastidip yesterday. Landscaping will help but amazing how it blends in now.

Your pad looks awesome but one slight detail. Those ball valves are not recommended, they will break down in time. Either have your builder change them to neverlube jandy style or have him write a specific warranty on the valve when they break down.

Thanks I think. Haha. Probably to late to do anything with contract or change valves. Maybe a future project with Jandy valves and actuators tied to automation. Either way if they fail they are cheap.

Welcome and congratulations! This site and the people is the equivalent of having the smartest pool people in the world at your disposable. Take full advantage.

@Flying Tivo ok looks like I can six 2 way Jandy valves for $180. They are coming back to install heater and cell phone automation in a few weeks. I may ask how much they’d charge to install and looks like I can add to automation.

edit: they are quoting installing 6 valves and 2 actuators for bubbler and waterfall with automation.

Sod going in!! And umbrella on tanning ledge. I had to get an adapter using aluminum rod and a lathe. The umbrella holder was 1.5” PVC and the umbrella was 1.5” diameter. I had the aluminum pieces machined to 1.375” +/- .002 x 16” with machined stop at halfway point and it works perfectly!

They added my VS speed pump today and Jandy valves and actuators. They left the ball valves but they really could just be hard piped in at this point. Good back-up I guess. Now I have to repaint

Heat pump and chiller next week along with Aqualink 2.0.

The installer was the pool school guy and I told him I added CYA and chlorine at FC 6.0. He seemed concerned and was like that is really high although I said my FC was 6 and he was like what is FC so at that point I figured I’d just go with the CYA (cover your Rear) FC chart.
