New Build in The Woodlands TX - Update: Landscaping!

Looking good. What is the sqft of your pool? It looks like a lot of sqft, so wondering if 5 Microbrites is going to be enough? I saw in another thread that Pentair recommends your total light lumens to be 4 times the sqft of your pool.

So if your sqft is 800, then they recommend 800x4 = 3,200 lumens. If your are doing the color Microbrites, they have 500 lumens each, which would imply that you want 3,200/5 = 6.4 microbrites, which you would round up to 7.

I see the recommendation in the TFP Wiki, but I can't find it anywhere else. I think I'll be OK with 5 given the depth profile and light placement. Thanks for the point out.

Is it OK if gunite is shot over the course of two days? My builder is proposing doing the floor one day and the walls the next day.

Why? did he give a reason? Is your pool so big they expect it to take all the cement in state of Texas for a day? Sarcasm aside, that seems odd.

I think it’s for scheduling with the gunite company. Gunite has been back
logged for weeks.

Your pool is only 7K, that really doesn't make a lot of sense. If your pool was 70K then multiple shoots might be warranted. If you don't have some kind of structural funky build reason I'm tempted to tell you to request to them that they do it one shoot. Is it rebarred yet? Can you post some pics? And we will get the contruction guys in here to chime in.

That’s my existing pool in California.

Are you going to keep the back side ( opposite side house ) clean like that? No trees or anything.. I really like that look. We have palms and pigmy palms on the back side of ours and it's a pain the Rear to keep clean... Was showing my wife and shared how nice that looks..

We'll have screening trees (probably wax myrtles) along the back fence and side fence (behind the shade structure) for privacy. We'll also add some pool-friendly flowers on top of the columns to add color and focal points.

SWEET!!! That looks great! Have you started bonding with it yet? aka watering it to help slow down the curing.

It is time for your set of links! The first set is all about what to do and ask about to get a great plaster job. The second set is all about how to care for your pool after you get the plaster.

Now is also a good time to ask what test kit your PB will be providing so we can fill in any holes.
