I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I wasn't able to find anything. Does anyone have a solution for the twisting and curling cord on a Maytronics Active 20? After every use, I untangle and uncurl the cord, lay it long and flat in the sun to try but the minute it hits the water again, it's a curled and tangled mess. I'm also finding that the robot doesn't clean as well because it doesn't pull hard enough on the cord to uncurl it, so it's not getting to all the places it should. Is there any solution to this, short of buying a new robot which I'm not really in the market to do? Does Maytronics offer any help?

V,

How old is the unit? I think the first generation did not have a swivel???

Do you have a caddy? If so, do you coil your cord up on the caddy? If not, how do you store the cord?

I put as little cord in the water as possible that still lets the robot get to the farthest point.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I'm not certain how old it is - the previous owner left the robot as part of the equipment and we just bought the house about 3 months ago. I assume it's first generation as there no swivel. There's no caddy that I've found anywhere. I've just been leaving the robot outside in the yard with the cord stretched as much as possible We run it almost daily so I don't take the whole thing inside, just the program box.

V,

I don't see anything that you are doing wrong.. Robot cords do tend to tangle, but it is not normally a major issue.

The only thing I can think to do is replace the cable with one that has a swivel.. but to be honest, I am not even sure that is even possible.. (I assume it is..)

Call these people and ask what they suggest..

Wow??? $200 bucks.. I am surprised.. but then again the 30i has a different cable than the 20 because it has the remote...
Still seems pretty high to me..

Agreed, unfortunately the swivel seems to add a hundred bucks, this cable maybe more to start with because of the remote control like you mention (so 3 lines, not just 2 power lines, out to robot).

The one thing I will recommend to OP and anyone else - if you switch to swivel, keep your original cable for 60 days. Mine went in the trash same day, and I wish I had it back to diagnose if my issues are swivel related (likely, since the only change), or something else on the unit going out coincidentally after the change.

Jnet,

Like you, I disconnect the cord from the power supply and pull it straight out from the robot and stand at the connector end and untwist the cord and then keep going another five turns or so and then let it relax... I do that about once a week or so depending on how often that I use it..

Thanks,

Jim R.

I am untwisting as much as I can but I have not disconnected it. I'll have to look for a manual online and see if I can take it apart. Thanks!

I am having the same issue as the OP. My unit was purchased new from Marina in May and the description clearly states that the Active 20 has a swivel cord, while mine does not. I'm a little concerned, because there do seem to be some points at which the cable is already becoming deformed. Regardless of how many times I untwist it...it spins itself back up. Pretty disappointed actually. My old Dolphin Robot cable was much thicker, could very easily be coiled and never twisted or bound up.

Your cable does not have the white swivel connection just above the robot?

Nope, there's nothing on the cable itself. But after numerous attempts to untangle this cord, the whole robot itself doesn't seem to be working- it's like it's not getting a signal from the box to the actual robot. It moves for about 30 seconds then just stops. So I don't know if the cable is just shot altogether now or what. So we've just been manually vacuuming. I've surrendered!

You can purchase a replacement cable with a swivel. I believe they are about $150. Check Marina Pool Spa. Denver Co.
