Brand new fill - Sequence ?

I'm helping out my nephew with his new Intex 16x36x52" above ground vinyl pool. He will have a SWG.

I'm ready for him to SLAM as soon as filled, but I am thinking this is what I am going to recommend.

As soon as he has filled a foot or so of water, I am going to put a few socks with CYA in a bucket and place that bucket on the floor of the pool as it is filling. The fill hose will be placed directly in the bucket, with the force of the stream directly at (onto) the sock.s This should help dissipate much of the the CYA when the pool is finally filled.

At about the halfway fill, take an Alk reading and adjust/correct based on the current volume. Then at about 3/4 full, take pH reading and adjust/correct for current volume.

When it is just about filled, make another correction for both Alk and pH.

Then when the pool gets up to skimmer level, I can turn on pump and SLAM, with CYA, pH and Alk mostly good.

Won't bother with salt or SWG until near the end of the SLAM, when I then dump in the salt. Then turn on SWG, and should be good to go.

Sound like a plan?

comments/suggestions, please.

No reason to SLAM tap water. Just get 5 ppm of liquid chlorine in it immediately.

I think all the chemical adjustments can wait until the pool is filled and pump and filter are running.

Very Nice pool! No SLAM, it's new :D

Nope, nope! CYA is acidic, no CYA until the pool and filter are full and functional. (and suspend it in the water, don't place it touching the liner, anywhere)

Test & balance water once full!

No SLAM :) Wait until pool is full to test. If everything is level and functional, use PoolMath, to calculate how much to add
