Socks captured THIS from returns...what now?

Am I doing anything wrong??
No, it's not you. It's the age-old battle between chlorine and iron. I don't recall if we ever discussed you being on a well, but that seems to be what's happening. The polyfill is good. Keep it up. If you are still in SLAM mode, you have to finish it first then treat for iron. But as soon as you pass the SLAM criteria, let the FC fall and make sure the pH is on the lower end of the scale - about 7.2-7.4. Allowing the FC to fall after the SLAM will also allow the sequestrant to work better.

You're welcome! Hang in there, stay the course! Your family WILL thank you soon!!
Not a well but yes iron in water which we have to add every few days. @splashpad and @Texas Splash thank you!
will send test results in 30 mins.
Ok so for SLAM criteria does green and clear still count as clear?
Is it water, iron or metal sequestrant that is added every few days? (Just trying to understand what is being added) :)

Possibly in your case! Which is why it's said here: EVERY pool is different :)

Clear is clear even if it's tinted from the iron. 🤢 But it should only be temporary. :) Just so you all understand, unless you are able to have fresh non-iron water delivered, or able to routinely take advantage of rainfall, the iron content continues to rise with each top-off from the hose. At some point the iron (ppm) level gets so high that it reacts quicker to even lower amounts of chlorine. But continue the SLAM, continue to keep poly and towels in the skimmer. The more you filter the better.

Ok!
Just did CYA test again and it’s 40. I think I did it wrong last time. So whoops too much chlorine but...
FC 20
Cc <.5
@splashpad yes iron in hose water which we have to add every few days.
@Texas Splash ok that’s good: so water is clear and if I pass OCLT tonight and cc stays this low I’m good to go!

Pollen , I get it in my skimmer socks.
@vbertone yes I think you are right! I let the vac basket dry out with all the stuff in it yesterday and once dry I could better tell it was pollen

also @splashpad @Texas Splash update: green is slowly turning to blue as FC drifts back down and water is clear!!! Polyfill doing its job. Will add Metal Magic soon to lift liner stain. RELIEF!!!

Question: pressure gauge still low-ish, but since I slammed I should backwash/rinse 3x and then recharge With fresh DE correct? How soon? And is it ok toput the DE in the filter with the polyfill in or should I take that out?

Correction: put DE in the skimmer baskets with polyfill in?

Only backwash once the pressure increases by about 25%. Too often is just a waste. Re-charge with DE as necessary. The polyfill should be kept separated from the DE, so if you have to add DE, do it first then add the polyfill back in.

FYI - Take a look at this one if you haven't seen it already.
