It's possible if there were other chemicals introduced to the pool that are being oxidized.Ok! Is the chlorine turning the water this color?

No, it's not you. It's the age-old battle between chlorine and iron. I don't recall if we ever discussed you being on a well, but that seems to be what's happening. The polyfill is good. Keep it up. If you are still in SLAM mode, you have to finish it first then treat for iron. But as soon as you pass the SLAM criteria, let the FC fall and make sure the pH is on the lower end of the scale - about 7.2-7.4. Allowing the FC to fall after the SLAM will also allow the sequestrant to work better.Am I doing anything wrong??
Is it water, iron or metal sequestrant that is added every few days? (Just trying to understand what is being added)Not a well but yes iron in water which we have to add every few days. @splashpad and @Texas Splash thank you!
will send test results in 30 mins.
Ok so for SLAM criteria does green and clear still count as clear?
It's only 4 over, I'd check it again in 30min to an hour. I can't tell you it's safe to swim, but we have in our own pool@splashpad ok! So I’ll do OCLT tonight and report back in the morning. The only bummer is now my kids can’t swim today because the FC is too high for CYA 40. Grrr.
In full sun, you are good to go@splashpad ok it’s 2.5 hours later in sunny conditions and it’s down to 16. So I think we’re good to swim.
is that a fast loss for a successful SLAM?
Pollen , I get it in my skimmer socks.Sorry one more question: any idea what that sticky gritty beige stuff on the sock and in the vac is? Is that DE? Pollen?
@vbertone yes I think you are right! I let the vac basket dry out with all the stuff in it yesterday and once dry I could better tell it was pollenPollen , I get it in my skimmer socks.
Correction: put DE in the skimmer baskets with polyfill in?@vbertone yes I think you are right! I let the vac basket dry out with all the stuff in it yesterday and once dry I could better tell it was pollen
also @splashpad @Texas Splash update: green is slowly turning to blue as FC drifts back down and water is clear!!! Polyfill doing its job. Will add Metal Magic soon to lift liner stain. RELIEF!!!
Question: pressure gauge still low-ish, but since I slammed I should backwash/rinse 3x and then recharge With fresh DE correct? How soon? And is it ok toput the DE in the filter with the polyfill in or should I take that out?
Remember to keep up SLAM Process levels until no loss overnight PLUS clear PLUS under .5 CC ! You are SO close!!! Really good work!update: green is slowly turning to blue as FC drifts back down and water is clear!!! Polyfill doing its job. Will add Metal Magic soon to lift liner stain. RELIEF!!!
