Heat Pump VS Gas Heater - What to get?

Hey all - I have an old pool heater that ended up breaking and leaking. As you can see in the picture, it is now out of the loop (literally).

The pool is 18 x 34 (if I recall correctly), roughly 20k gallons.

I have heard people talking about heat pumps, but I don't know what the right solution for a pool of this size.

I would love something efficient, but effective - being able to hook to wifi for remote control would be a plus, but not required.

Any recommendations are genuinely appreciated!

Generally speaking, heat pump for those who keep the pool covered anytime not in use, and want the water up to temp at all times. They cost more upfront, are slow to heat water, but can do it more economical than a NG heater.

NG is quicker to heat the water, so a better choice for occasional use. Less upfront cost, and it won’t take two days to heat the pool.

Either way In cool weather, if you don’t keep your pool cover on when not in use, you will pay to heat it, then lose that heat at night. But then, you probably know that if you have had a heater before.
