Hi all,

We are looking to install a 21' or 24' round pool for our three kids to play in (ages 6-10). We have a big yard, so I know everyone says to get the biggest you can, but I'm just not sure I want something to take up that much room when we will only get maybe 4-5 months use a year? (We are in central NC). Anyone want to talk me into one size or the other? :) I've seen (and swam in) 26" rounds and those seem HUGE.

I'm looking into a Carvin Redwood mostly because I like the look of them better than a standard white AGP. Anyone with experience with them?

We did have a 10' x 30" intex last year, so I am somewhat familiar with the work involved with pools (although obviously on a MUCH smaller scale).

I was quoted a price of $5100 for a 21' resin pool (and various peripherals including SWG) and $1500 for the install. Seems pretty steep, but we aren't handy and really don't feel comfortable buying online and installing ourselves.

We are thinking of a multistage process where we put in the pool this summer, and eventually adding on a section of privacy fencing to block it from street view and later a deck connected to the pool.

Thanks for any feedback on this plan!

As you said, Bigger is Better. My wife and I put up a 33' round resin ourselves. End of the day I think we were more meticulous than the pool builders we interviewed. The dirt work is the hardest part and my 3 kids and their friends could care less about the yard when the pool is open. My 2 cents. Good luck!

Get the biggest pool you can afford. Your kids are going to grow and they're going to have friends over. If I could have fit a 33ft pool in my backyard, I'd of bought one n I swim alone for the most part when my lil sidekick (granddaughter) isnt with me.

My 20X40 was humongous when it was built and it took a whole couple of months to wear off and just be normal. The last couple of years I stand there dreaming of 24X44. No matter how big you pool or boat is, 4 more friends tag along with the regulars next time and it gets cramped.

The price of the pool seems expensive to me. We paid a local pool store about $5k total for a 27' Aqualeader Blues pool installed 5 years ago. Installation was similar at around $1,500.
Thanks for this info. It seems high to me, too. I did check another place, and they were even a bit more expensive. This one does come with a two speed (two stage?) pump, either sand or cartridge, plus either an ionizer or a SWG.

You might want to see if your local codes REQUIRE you to have that fence in place just as soon as you put the pool in. "Eventually" won't save you from a lawsuit.
Oh yes. To clarify, we have an existing four foot fence, and I've checked the local codes and the pool itself can function as a "barrier" as long as it meets certain height criteria (which it does) and has removable stairs. But thanks for pointing that out. Liability is a real concern. We were considering another section of fencing (privacy fencing) for privacy and aesthetics.

I'll have to look into this. I'm not sure what "perma-salt" is... Thanks!

Its the only “salt system” family leisure sells. I got my pool through them due to cost & negotiated some other things in place of this & installed my own swg after they installed my pool.

Installed before tax my 33’x54” Mirage Resin pool with dual returns, 250lb sand filter, 1.5 hp pump, winter cover, maintenance kit, auto suction side cleaner & Majestic wedding cake steps was $4500 + $500 for the dig(its in the side of a hill) through Family leisure. This was about a year & half ago. Another local place where i go when i need anything like lc etc. quoted about $8000 for a comparable pool/setup. I had built my perfect pool through the pool factory but I couldn’t find anyone locally to install a pool they didn’t sell so i had to settle for what was available especially since i had to have my hill dug out. Since then i’ve seen some people advertising that they install pools in my area.

You may want to call around for pricing. I am in central/eastern NC and priced out this very pool today and it was $4699.99 for the 27ft. and they were also throwing in a nice a-frame ladder/step set.
