Yeah, if your CYA has dropped to 60 then you can go ahead and continue the SLAM at the FC level for 60 going forward.

SLAM = Shock level and MAINTAIN. Until you meet all 3 slam criteria - crystal clear water, .5 cc or less, & no overnight chlorine loss so you can be assured all algae is dead & gone??
Yes, I understood that. I didn't understand if I needed adjust for a new, lower CYA or maintain FC with the original CYA.

It will!! Just keep going! Adding, testing & brushing & soon you’ll be swimming & chilling? it will stay that way too if you follow tfp & hopefully never see green again . The more frequently you check & get back up to slam level the faster it will go. Its alot in the 1st several days but its worth it.

Great ?? Just keep on adding liquid chlorine , brushing & testing multiple times a day. Every time you fall below slam level the algae gets a leg up. Keep up the good fight ?

Pics of progress!Ugh! In his defense, I take care of pool maintenance, so last night my husband did since I had to work. He put in way to much liquid chlorine.
My CYA is just over the 50 line so I rounded down to 40.
FC is 29.
Yesterday I could see the bottom easily but it was cloudy. This morning I can just barely see the vacuum brush emerged to the bottom. Just leave it alone until it comes down? I will be leaving town this afternoon and be gone approximately 24 hours.

if your cya is anything over 40 you round up to 50 - there’s no 45 always round up - otherwise you may not have enough chlorine . Slam level for 50cya is 20. So Its not that far over - it will come down. Mustard algae level is 29.4- if you maintain that for more than 24hrs or go higher fading of your liner can occur but i’m sure it will come down. The sun & organics will eat it soon. Check it again before you leave & add what’s needed To get to 20 & then give your hubby a measuring cup Marked with that amount to add tonight & tomorrow morning while you’re gone. Also keep your pump running. You never want to go below slam level for any real length of time but If he cannot add any while you’re gone it would just set u back a little.

well now u know what it is & there’s no need to keep testing cya until you’re done with slamming & intend to change out alot of water or you add something with stabilizer in it (which you shouldn’t do) Cya doesn’t change much.

Also for future reference when u do the cya test you can pour it back into the little squirt bottle , shake it up & squirt it back into the view tube multiple times to be sure the reading is accurate. I do it about 3 or 4 times. That cloudy water can play tricks on the eyes.

I'm on day nine and it's still cloudy....can barely see the bottom. I'm keeping my FC right at what I'm supposed to so I guess it's going well....Should it take this long to get clear? At least it isn't green anymore!!!
