Scupper Intake?

I have 3 scupper/waterfalls on my pool that are fed by a dedicated pump. I am trying to determine where the suction side is plumbed in my pool. I see two drains at the bottom of the pool. Is it possible one of these is the suction side for the scuppers? If not, where else would I look?

Thanks.

The two drains are likely two legs that form a VGBA safety drain - Safety Drains VGBA - Further Reading

Do you have any intakes on the side walls of your pools?

Post pics of the two drains at the bottom of the pool and other pics of your pool and let's see what we can spot.

Why are you looking for the suction intake?

I don’t see any intakes on the sidewalls, but I could be missing something. I was more curious than anything else. My main pump is broken right now, so while awaiting replacement I am using the scupper pump to keep some circulation going in the pool. So I was curious where it is pulling the water from. See attached pics. Thanks!

E,

Based upon your pics the water has to be coming from the main drains or the skimmer as there does not appear any other place it can come from..

Show us some pics of your equipment pad and let us know what pump is for the scuppers.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Jim, I would have thought so, too, but not sure how. Both skimmers and main drains appear to be going to filter pump (on left). The scuppers pump on right has its own dedicated inflow pipe.

E,

I guess if the pool was built before it was required to have two main drain covers, than one could by your main drain and the other the scupper input..

If you are concerned, and once it gets warm enough to swim, you could just shut off the main pump and only run the scupper pump and see what water was moving..

Thanks,

Jim R.
