Intermatic pool timer issues.

You need to watch the clock wheel and see if the ON tripper contacts the internal toggle and pushes the switch on. Sometimes twisting the wheel helps it make contact. The contact point wears and may be worn out in which case you need a new internal mechanism.

Off and On trippers contact at different points. I think the ON is inside the OFF and misses first.

If fiddling with it doesn't fix it then buy a new timer mechanism.

Did you mix up the hot and the load. If you did, the timer only gets power in the on position but once the timer trips to "off" being that the load is on the hot lug, your timer will stop right there and not move. If you're not good with electricity you can do a "listening test". Put your ear close to the timer when the timer is working and the lever is in the ON direction. You'll hear the timer motor working. Now move it to the off direction and listen if you still hear the clock motor noise. If you don't that means no power to the clock in the off position and the hot and load wires were not put on the right lugs.

Unrelated. I just noticed the ground earth wire has been removed from timer . I remember putting this on when I installed it 6 years ago. Since then I had a new pool pump and filter installed by a third party so they didn't attach it, but now it looks like they out the ground earth wire in a cap ?

Looks like there is more then one one wire under that wire nut. Do you have multiple grounds going into the timer?

If you have multiple ground wires there you should run a pigtail from the timer ground screw and add it to the wires under the wire nut.

Just an update replaced the whole mechanism and all good now.
I noticed the ON mechanism under the dial had a worn out, shame they don't make them like they used to. 365 x 6 approx 2000 on clicks before the metal wore out. Technically the tripper should wear out first but I guess it's done this way intentionally.

I think this may be the problem with mine. It runs fine until it hits the off switch then nothing. Has been this was since they installed the pool last year. I will do the listening test today. Is there a way to visually/manually check for this? I am pretty good with electric, so I'm sure if it is a simple fix, I can handle it. Thanks!

How did you go about changing out the whole mechanism? If mine isn't a simple fix, I may have to go about doing this. Thanks!
