I would like to make a modified pool pump cover for my Hayward super pump to attach my shop vac to blow out the lines. What is the best way to accomplish this? Should I just use a hole saw (ones for doors) and then stick an adapter in there that the vacuum can hook up to? Considering the lid is curved should I just put a bunch of silicone where the fitting will attach to the cover in order to create an airtight seal? Anyone who has one and could post a pic would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to screw up a $60 lid.

The thread goes into detail on what to use, and what to purchase. I had someone cut the hole for me, but other members have posted what tools you need to cut the plastic with. The parts are all the same. Make sure you get the correct 6' hose. Good luck and keep us posted!

Few tips when making your modified cover:
-Go very slow or you will bind up.
-Clamp it down or it will go for a spin.
-If you order a new lid, I would use it for the pump and use old one for the modifications.

Just did mine a few weeks ago.

I know we have different pumps, but here is mine and my cyclone blower ready to go. I would not use silicone unless absolutely necessary. The fittings that go thru the lid will have rubber gaskets that would seal it. *Note mine is also slightly domed on top.
