The only risk of not closing is freeze damage. To avoid freeze damage your pump (most) has "freeze protection". If the temp falls below 34 it will turn on the pump to keep the water circulating. My pool was finished late in the season too but we actually got around a month to swim. Even then when I closed and had the water level lowered, I could (still can) see a ring on the pool where that initial lowering was. Faint, but there. I am actually not sure how long new plaster needs to have full water level to avoid a ring. You also are not supposed to run your heater for 30 days after new plaster due to plaster dust damaging the heat exchanger. So even if you are plastered you will not be able to swim your water will be way too cold. Same goes for the SWG (30 day wait to add salt) so you'll have to manually chlorinate until the water temp is below 60. Not to mention you need to brush 2x a day or so for at least 2 weeks.

A&S should know if they are too late to plaster. My neighbor's A&S pool was pushed to the following year due to this reason. If they do it right now they are ok but if it gets to be much longer they will probably push it until next year. Have you tried A&S corporate and bypass your rep?

I was told that after the Deck gets repaired, the plaster will be done either late next week or the week after and that puts us in mid September. I knew about the heater and SWG 30 day requirements, actually I will not convert the pool to salt this year, probably when I open in late April. I haven't reached to A&S corporate yet but might need to if this doesn't happen. I have tried to contact upper management of the Jessup office several times with 0 success, the only reliable person is the one who put the design together. I had to contact the deck subcontractor directly to find out the actual status of the phase and the schedule.

Do pools need a lot of chlorine when water is colder?

In the 60s they don't need much at all algae is mostly dormant and doesn't grow at all I think under 60.
 
Yay! Perfect time to landscape even though it stopped raining weeks ago.

Don’t stop the water for anything until midway up the tile line. You don’t want a bathtub ring.

:roll: it means they point at the pool and says "That holds the water" then points at the equipment and says "that cleans your pool". Now sign here to pay us to take care of everything.............that is when you say "No Thank you. I have TFP and my own test kit" while you show them the gate!

+1 what Kim said. Best case they'll actually explain how your equipment works, worst case they'll tell you to always have 2 pucks in the skimmers and run your pump on high all the time. Regardless, nod your head and send them on their way and get your real training from TFP.

No drone shots since i dont have one but once filled i could ask my neighbor. As for the fence, i have a wooden fence around the property that I modified to meet Frederick county code. Basically i had to add the wire mesh to the outside and have the gates open towards the outside. One of my neighbors has his like this (he also has a pool) and he passed it. The only issue is that i might need to add some kind of spring to make the gate automatically close.
 
I love Urbana, I miss it, we have a lot of friends still in Urbana. Love your pool but sheesh, that last shot. I'd have to plant a lot of trees, hard to relax when your neighbors are so close. After going back and forth with my builder all day, I look at your photo and just think about the end product and how it will be so worth it, if I can get a quality pool when its done.

What are your plans for landscaping. I'm going to plant some Thuja green giants to block out the one neighbor. How my house is setup the pool is literally in his front yard. I can see my neighbors $300,000 pool in my front yard but its up a hill so they get privacy. I'm slightly down hill from my neighbor.

Yeah, I know we have a lot of neighbors but I think that maybe 10-20 arborvitaes around would help... We thought of selling the house and buying one with a better backyard with like woods in the back but doing that, we where very limited in Urbana since there are basically no houses being sold here and when you find one, there is no backyard to build a pool.... Also there are less than 20 houses here with pools so buying one with a pool is impossible... Another thing is that if you buy and sell a house in the same area, you will loose money in the swap due to all the closing costs, realtor fees, etc... I like the area and the schools for the kids so we just decided to stay and hey if we ever sell the house, we will probably get some money back, but not all...
