I have a Pentair Clean and Clear Plus 520 that is leaking at the outlet. From what I can tell from reading I should be able to get this union off, but so far can’t get it to budge. I can see pvc cement on the pipe going into the union, so thinking that might be what’s preventing me from turning it. Anyone have experience with how these work and thoughts on what I should try? Hoping this doesn’t include cutting PVC, which would mean hiring help. Attached is a photo showing the situation. Appreciate any help.

Unions just screw off ( turn counter clockwise). They should not be glued in. Have you tried a pipe wrench on it ( gently ). Try tapping on it with a mallet to see if that will break it free. You may try heating the pvc pipe that goes into the union with a heat gun or really good hair drier to see if that will loosen the glue.
