Speed Stir Question?

After all the good reviews about the Speed Stir, I just got one. I’ve been testing with the Taylor K-2006c with good results without a Speed Stir. Now I have one.

How do you handle the in between tests with the magnetic stirrer? Do you empty the previous test results into a screened cup or sink, rinse the test tube, and then wash the stirrer before the next test? It seems like it may take longer than the manual swirl style, dump, rinse, and go for the next test. What procedure do you use that works for you? Thank you.

I have a vial and bean for almost all tests, even though I generally just use two (Chlorine only, and then other for all other tests). It all depends on my mood or where I'm testing as to if I'll use more than two vials.

I always buy extra beans cause I'm prone to tossing them out into the yard when I empty my vials and losing them. :brickwall:

Where is the best place to buy some extra beans? I see folks selling various sized beans on Amazon. Not sure if these are ideal. Would rather stay with the Taylor specific brand.

Charlie,

Like Maddie, I use two vials... One that only gets used for the FC tests, and one for everything else.. I do the tests next to the sink, so just dump the completed test into the sink and rinse the vial and magnetic pill and move to the next test.

Thanks,

Jim R.

1981,

The TF-100 test kit comes with two vials, one marked for chlorine tests only.. I "assume" it is because, over time, the vial gets contaminated with the chlorine which could effect the other tests... I do not know if that is true or not, but using two vials has now become a habit for me..

Edit... I like Maddie's reasoning better.. :)

Thanks,

Jim R.

Jim - I went with your method this morning and it works great. Now I know why everyone gives the Speed Stir two thumbs up.

Thanks to all for your answers and information. Have an awesome weekend.
