Chlorine low

Hi All,

Recently I had my water tested and the FC is next to nothing. Shocked the pool Sunday, Monday and FC hardly register. What can i do to get my FC levels up and stable? All the other numbers are good.

Thinking of converting to liquid bleach.

Welcome to the forum!
You most likely need to follow the SLAM Process Process. To do that, you need a proper test kit, see Test Kits Compared. I suggest the TF-100 Test Kit ™
While you are waiting on your test kit, add 5 ppm FC worth of liquid chlorine / plain bleach to your pool each evening with the pump running.

I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry and consider reviewing the entire Pool School eBook.

PoolMath tells you how much liquid chlorine / bleach you need.
For your size pool, 3 quarts of 10% liquid chlorine or a full jug of 6% plain bleach will work.

Ok, will buy the bleach tomorrow. So, a jug of plain bleach each day. Do you broadcast the bleach or dilute with water in a bucket?

Pour the bleach slowly out of the bottle in front of a running return. Pour 1 bottle over 1-2 minutes.

As you do not know the FC or CYA level, that is up to you. We do recommend you be able to see the bottom of the pool for safety reasons.
