Hi. I’m a new member and just opened my pool to find what looks like algae ( see pic). I had bought the TF-100 kit and the readings are:

FC 0
TA 70
CYA 40
PH 6.8

I read in another post that because there’s algae I should Adjust ph first and then use the SLAM process. Looking for guidance as I had a major algae problem last summer that I thought I had overcome. Also wondering if I should vacuum/brush first or try to adjust ph and other chemicals first.

I have a 25k gallon vinyl pool with a Hayward pro series sand filter.

Your pH is a bit low. I would increase the pH to 7.2, then increase the FC to "16" using regular bleach which is your SLAM level based on the current CYA. See FC/CYA Levels. From there, simply follow all the notes on the SLAM Process page and you should do fine. Good luck!

Oh, and welcome to TFP!
