Do you mean adjust them at the same time? Using baking soda and calcium chloride?
I would wait between them as the baking soda can create a localized high pH for a few minutes. If the calcium chloride hit that area it could cause scale.
Add the calcium to get to 300 ppm or so. Brush it in well and let it circulate for a day. Then add some baking soda to get our TA to 60 or so. That dissolves pretty quick and is an easy add.
Testing is plus or minus a couple drops of reagent. So at 25 ppm CH per drop (if you are using the 10 ml water sample) then you can have a +/- 50 ppm swing. So try adding a bit more and see if you can see the change.
