Chemical Question

Do you mean adjust them at the same time? Using baking soda and calcium chloride?

I would wait between them as the baking soda can create a localized high pH for a few minutes. If the calcium chloride hit that area it could cause scale.

What are your test results?

With your pH your TA is not an immediate issue.

Add the calcium to get to 300 ppm or so. Brush it in well and let it circulate for a day. Then add some baking soda to get our TA to 60 or so. That dissolves pretty quick and is an easy add.

I would wait a couple days after adding the calcium. Run your robot and that will help mix it up.

Calcium does not disperse like chlorine or acid.

Did you add enough to measure with your test kit? Need to move it by at least 50 ppm to really see it.

If you used pure calcium chloride, that should work. Did you run the robot to mix up the water?

Had the product gotten wet?

Add another 50 ppm worth of calcium chloride and see if you can read it.

Testing is plus or minus a couple drops of reagent. So at 25 ppm CH per drop (if you are using the 10 ml water sample) then you can have a +/- 50 ppm swing. So try adding a bit more and see if you can see the change.
