I noticed that the whisperflo curve in the user guide is different from the whisperflo curve I get online (inyo & others). Did Pentair change there calculation method or is it something else?

You are probably looking at two different models. In the Whisperflo line there is both an up rated and full rated version at the same label HP but the head curves are different.

Depends on what you mean by "standard". What you have is the up rated pump version.
"Standard Efficiency" just means it is not high efficiency. Both the up rated and full rated pumps come in "Standard Efficiency".
