Construction finally started in Jacksonville FL!

One thing you can do is get a "ring" doorbell/floodlight camera.. .it records everything.. install it in your back yard and have a video and audio record of the progress, what day they work, what time they work, when they show up, when they leave, rain days, nice days, etc... So when you sue them your evidence can not be denied!

When progress on our project started to slow down, my wife and I pulled up the ring doorbell archives and went through each day and marked a calendar every day it rained, and they showed or did not show, and if they showed how long they were there.... It was quite eye opening seeing that several weeks of good weather passed with no one showing up... Just an idea.

We have do have a nest cam on the backyard! I just need to set up the recording part. The major problem is, there was no set timeline given in the contract. We were dumb and just going off of their word and good references. The only contract timeline is that the shell has to be placed 30 days after dig.

UPDATE*** 5/1/18. So our PB finally got the subs back out yesterday to start the rebar. They showed up at noon and left at 4, they wrapped the sides in this metal mesh and plywood looking stuff but didn't get one pole(?) or whatever of rebar down. Said they would be back this morning. I asked when they thought they would get the concrete shot and they said definitely not this week because they were booked. So I text that to my PB. My PB then showed up at my house last night to see what all the subs had accomplished and told my husband and I he was going to be getting rid of them and bringing someone else into shoot the concrete. He is just as frustrated as we are as this Sub company has lost him thousands of dollars over the past 2 months. Like clock work they didn't show back up to finish the rebar today. I am so over them. My PB promised us that he would make our job a priority once the shell was actually in the ground and would have us swimming in 4 weeks. Here's hoping.

Sad, oh so sad :( Of course they did not show up............they never intended to. Why, oh why do they have to lie?

Exactly. Just be real with me! I was shocked that they admitted they wouldn't have the concrete shot because they were booked. Anyway. It's just a big joke now between my husband, myself and the PB. What else can we do? They have to finish the rebar portion so until that is done we can't go with another company.

I'm not trying to rile you up, but I wouldn't feel too sorry for your PB. This is the way he's decided to do business and his subs are a reflection of his choices. I know you're trying to hang in there, but don't give this PB too much of a pass.

Really hoping things get better for you.

Oh he’s def not off the hook! But I appreciate his effort staying on top of them. All we can do is just be patient at this point. Living in Florida there are hundreds upon hundreds of people having pools put in this time of year. Contractors have the luxury of working how they want once they have that signed contract.

The subs made it back out around 4pm and worked on the steel until 7. They said they would be back in the morning to finish. And by morning I’m guessing they mean late afternoon. Where you all  when you heard them at 4 pm??? I bet they are job hopping..........doing a little on this one, doing a little on that one, just to show something IS happening. Get to one and work on it until it is DONE! gurrrrrrrr

OH MY!! REALLY??? HOW cool is that!!!!!!!! Paige, did they put "rebar chairs" in? These are little things that hold the rebar off the dirt. Side and bottom-the rebar would not be touching dirt.

Will you be there for the shoot? Try to be as they might have idea, concerns, questions. It is better YOU are there to get what YOU want in YOUR pool. Watch for steps and benches. Do you want a "sharp" edge or a "smooth/rolled" edge? That kind of thing.

Yes they did put rebar chairs in! I will not be there for the shoot, hoping my husband is going to be but if not my PB's assistant is going to be the whole time and he knows to call me with ANY question. I am hoping this is the start of a smooth finish!

IMHO the concrete shell is the most important part of the pool and someone should be there to give directions to the crew shooting the concrete.
