I think I've got mustard algae?

FC 16 CC 0 pH 7.6 TA 70 CH 480 CYA 50 I did OCLT and it didn't change and no CC. Can mustard algae be present if I passed OCLT?

I think I've got mustard algae?

I see some discoloration on the walls of the pool (yellowish, I would say and it seems to be more on the shaded side of the pool). I've tried to brush to moderate effect. I've shocked to chlorine to16 and checked overnight and it is still 16 the next morning and CC is 0. I brushed it for a week...

    Drop size for Taylor R-0871

I bought the big bottle to replace the small one that came with the original kit for the FAS-DPD test. When I turn that thing over the drops come quickly from gravity. I don't have to add any squeeze at all. The drops don't look very big and, like I said, I can't slow it down. Any suggestions...

Will be gone 6 days, what to do?

Forgot that the tabs reduce pH a bit, so that should keep the pH increase down a bit. Thanks:)

Will be gone 6 days, what to do?

I'm going to be gone for 6 days and I'm not sure what to do about my pH numbers. My pool is still in its first year and the pH wants to rise constantly - about .2 every two or three days. I try to keep it between 7.6 and 7.8. Not sure what to do when I'm gone, though. I really don't have anyone...

Is there a more accurate CYA test?

Thanks:) I will give it a try. I'll throw a couple of 8 oz trichlor tabs in - that is supposed to add about 5 ppm, then I'll do it again over the next couple of weeks before it gets really hot here. Thanks, again!

Is there a more accurate CYA test?

Sorry to bump this, but still looking for advice/opinions. Based on Pool Math, I know I've put a minimum of 40 CYA in the pool (through liquid CYA, some dry CYA, and 4 trichlor tabs). My Taylor test kit reading still shows the black dot at 30 (a little cloudy, but easily, immediately seen at...

    Question about recommended Calcium Hardness

So Taylor Technologies suggests a range of 200-400, while Pool Math's ideal range 250-350. Not a huge difference, but I was curious what my plan should be living in Peoria, AZ with pretty hard water. I'm currently at a CH of 190 after an RO treatment. Should I used chemicals to get it to 250, or...

Is there a more accurate CYA test?

No, here in the Phoenix area, the water is already starting to heat up. It has been 78 to 80 over the last few days.

Is there a more accurate CYA test?

Follow up - I think I'm giving up on this CYA test. I dumped a gallon of liquid conditioner from Leslie (in my sized pool it was supposed to add 26 ppm). Then I've since added 2 8oz trichlor tabs (pool math says a total of 4.7 ppm). I also added a pound of dry stabilizer over a week ago...

    FAS-DPD question

Good to know - thanks guys:)

    FAS-DPD question

I'm not sure if I'm doing part of the test correctly. I put in the two scoops (I usually use the .5/10ml fill). Swirl, add the drops and it is usually seems to be pretty accurate. However, I've never once had the sample turn any color when I add the 5 drops of the other drops (not sure what it...

Is there a more accurate CYA test?

I'm having trouble with this test as well. I had an RO service done to my water. The tech took a sample to Leslie's and the CYA read 10. Fine...who knows. I bought a bottle of liquid CYA that was supposed to add 30ppm in 10,000 gallons (my pool is a little over 14,400). I dumped it in over two...

Reverse Osmosis treatment and now water balancing question

Excited about a new start. My new build is coming up on 9 months old and the CH was already in the 650 range, so I started looking for alternatives before the heat of a Phoenix summer arrives. After the usual great advice I found on this site, I came across the RO service. The tech who did it...
