    Soft Water and Boric Acid

I forgot to ask about best level of borates. I've seen 30-50 ppm is recommended by many, but once source I found said that it should be 70 ppm if using salt cell. What level does TFP recommend?

thank you. guess I will give it a try since I already bought it.

    Soft Water and Boric Acid

Currently around 550. Just drained enough water to bring it down from around 800. Will it use more or less acid? I have a stenner injection pump that injects little bit of acid every morning to keep my ph between 7.4 and 7.6.

    Soft Water and Boric Acid

I have few questions. I am currently planning to re-plumb my auto-fill from a hard water irrigation line to the soft water loop on my house. I use potassium pellets for the soft water, even though they cost a bunch more. Is there any negatives with soft water in a pool, besides ensuring that...

    Calcium Buildup

I tested with the new Taylor Test kit and it essentially confirmed the previous results (with expired Regent) on the same water. So I have no doubt that my CSI is negative. But still have no idea why I would be getting scaling on the salt cell so much. Going to look into how I can tap into my...

    Calcium Buildup

I checked the regents and a few of them are expired in May 2023, while a couple were expired summer 2022. So, I ordered a new test kit to re-check the levels and see where I'm at. Hopefully can figure something out.

    Calcium Buildup

No soft water is available to the auto-fill. Plumber plumbed it in to the irrigation line rather than the hose bibb so it is bypassing the house completely. Though the hose bibb doesn't have soft water either. I will check the reagents to ensure they are still good. I checked my testing method...

    Calcium Buildup

FC is only low because the salt cell is no longer running due to calcium buildup. I typically run cell to keep within the recommended levels. Test strips are fast and provide a way to see rough amount of chlorine in the pool, besides FC and CC have no bearing on CSI, at least based on the pool...

    Calcium Buildup

I weekly test ph and TA with taylor and monthly do a more comprehensive testing at pool store and with the taylor test kit so I am 100% confident the numbers are reasonably close to those listed. For example taylor kit had 7.4-7.5 ph and 70-80 TA which matches pool store results. FC only test...

    Calcium Buildup

Hello, I am having some calcium buildup on my salt cell (45 to 60 days between cleaning), much more than I feel I should be having. Previous years I ran a Pentair IC60 and injected 50% acid/50% water via a stenner pump a few feet before the salt cell to keep ph stable with minimal effort. While...

    IC60 not lasting

I guess my concern would be that it could inject acid into the pipe without water moving if it is installed on pool return pipe. Can't see from that picture but there are 3 valves there to choose between Spa Jets, Spa Overflow, InFloor or Pool Returns. I mostly use Pool Returns but few hours a...

    IC60 not lasting

This is the current setup. Left the cracked nuts on the pipe. Hoping I would have enough room to cut the union off by that valve and put the injection there. Then salt cell would be moved right a bit. Just not sure about having it very close to that 90 degree turn.

Thank you for the information! I see your pool is similar size. Do you run the IC60 or IC40?

    IC60 not lasting

Thank you. Will gift my box of cal hypo shock to a pool owner I don't like very much. haha. So how should I go about getting rid of the white flakes? Vacuum and clean filter? Could that have damaged my IC60? Is Leslie's clean and clear better? Should I worry about 650 calcium? Sorry for all...
