    Pool Cover recommendation

Greetings, I'm looking for a pool cover that'll make it easier to open next year. The cover that I had been using sags from the weight of leaves and drops down to the point of where the water is, typically a foot .... just below the skimmer. I envision something that I can pull and latch that...

    Hayward Thermal Cutoff

Right ... because as long as smoke stays in a circuit and doesn't leak out, the circuit works.

    Hayward pump has failed again.

I'm in the same boat. I replace mine every couple of years. Probably need to cover it so that it's not getting hammered straight on by the rain.

    Hayward Thermal Cutoff

Also ... another piece of info, when I first powered up the pump it didn't start. I tapped it a few times. and it started up for a short time before sending out some smoke.

    Hayward Thermal Cutoff

So first time running the pump since last year. Prior to powering it, I made sure it's all primed and not running dry. I fire it up and smell that smell ... and it actually shut off before I could. This is a Hayward Power-flow LX that I've only had maybe a little more than a year and a half...

    Walmart bleach has changed

Does anyone know if there is a limit to the number of gallons one can purchase at Lowes?

    Opening issues

Thanks for the response. I use the trouble free pool test kit. I also just replaced all of my reagents. I've always done the SLAM process but I can't get my hands on bleach like I used to be able to. It looks like Borax and Baking soda are taking effect. My PH is moving upward and my TA is at 30.

    Opening issues

So I usually don't have the issues that I'm having - when opening my pool. I've not been using bleach or any liquid chlorine this opening. I have been shocking it. As of now, I my TA is 0 and my PH is probably 4~. My CYA is also at 60 already so I'm not thrilled about that. I added 8 pounds of...

    Aquaview Filter leak

I don't mind just getting new sand. For that price, I should be able to get it done and do it myself. Actually I just ordered a Hayward 24" and I'm probably re-use my sand. That saves me 300 dollars from going the "warranty" route.

    Aquaview Filter leak

I was quoted 680.00 to replace it all including the sand. I am seeing it for 453.00 online. They said that they;ll replace the sand and seals ...etc. Does that sound reasonable or should I do the replacement myself?

    Aquaview Filter leak

That's right. As soon as I saw this I took measures.

    Aquaview Filter leak

What are my options with this? The filter is 5 years old and I've never really done anything with it. It is a 0-1709-024 (Doughboy part). My pump has some noisy bearings which I've not replaced yet. Would this be a good time to just replace the whole assembly?

    Hayward Pump noise

True ..... nothing seems to be clogged or lodged up in there. My guess from the location of the noise is the front bearing. Time to pull it and tear it down!!

    Hayward Pump noise

First power up of the year and there's noise coming from the pump/motor. Initially I thought it was bearings until I stethoscoped it and the noise is definitely coming from the pump/impeller area. It's pumping good with good pressures. Does it sound like something is lodged into the impeller area?
