    I understand that the SWCG stops producing chlorine when water falls below a certain temperature....I think mine is 50 degrees. I recently tested my Chlorine and there was none with a CYA of 20 and salt 3300ppm.....My question is how do I tell if my SWCG is not working when the water is below...

    I noticed cloudy water last week so I checked my numbers with the test kit and had 0 chlorine, 8 ph, and 20 cya and filters were extremely dirty. This weekend I went into pool mode! Filters soaked, cleaned and replaced...added "stuff" (CYA, 6%bleach, MA) to get my numbers back to acceptable...

    Pump burned out?

    Everything is working as it should.....He replaced the 1.25 HP pump with a 1.75 HP....Said there have been several of the 1.25 going out lately.

    Update: Repair guy replaced the capacitor which had some burn markings on the terminal. Tried to restart the pump to no avail. He replaced the pump with a new one at no charge because it was still under warranty.

    I agree....I have been following the recommended levels here and I also was battling the high pH issue. I decided to add boratic acid and that has seemed to stabilize my pH rise issue.     Thanks for the reply Jim....the texture on the bottom of the pool is pretty smooth...not slippery. We had the installer leave the stairs much rougher to prevent sliping. We had him leave the tanning ledge somewhere in between these 2...he suggested not going as smooth as the bottom b/c kids can...
