new heat pump - best practice?

the problem is we spent a lot of money on the safety cover and the guy told us there would be very little difference in heat retention between that and the solar cover that was already on the pool. We obviously bought the new cover for the safety benefits as we have young children. I might...

new heat pump - best practice?

thanks for the reply! We have an expensive thermal safety cover (aquamatic ez cover) which I've noticed on sunny days actually leads to the temperature increasing by a degree or so, so I definitely leave that on 100% of the time when not in use. It's more over night I was a bit concerned about...

new heat pump - best practice?

Hi all, I'm in the UK and have a 20x10 6000 galon outdoor pool. We recently did away with our 9kw electric heater and bought a Polytropic Master M heat pump. We absolutely love it and it has transformed how often we use the pool. However now that summer is here in the UK whenever the outdoor...

Heat pump vs electric heater for a UK pool

well, a few leaks at some of the solvent weld joins due to not twisting or champhering the pipe however, I have to say, the heat pump is one of my best investments to date. the 14kw polytropic heat pump seems to heat at the same speed as my 9kw electric heater but at a quarter of the price. It...

Heat pump vs electric heater for a UK pool

Hi guys, so, the big install is this saturday. I have (I think) all of the required pipework, bends, primer and glue so wish me luck. Before I go making a horrible mistake I just wanted to confirm I'm doing the correct thing to put the heat pump directly before the existing heater? There is a...

Heat pump vs electric heater for a UK pool

Per hour.. noted. haha yeah I've lowered my expectations to CoP of 4 after hearing what people have said. Still seems like a very good investment to me. Not being as fortunate with the weather as you i'd more likely heat it during the day (because of air temp) and around the time i'm going to...

Heat pump vs electric heater for a UK pool

So the lower the psi the higher the flow rate? Thank goodness for that. I went back through your post and saw that if 20psi is 5m3/sec and wrongly assumed that 14psi would be around 4m3/sec. I can't express how grateful I am I feel so good knowing there is such a wealth of information...

Heat pump vs electric heater for a UK pool

Sorry you're right it was 14 psi. How does that translate? Is it still a worry that it appears to be the same before and after a backwash?

Heat pump vs electric heater for a UK pool

I don't think this is going to be what you (and therefore I) want to hear.. but yes when off the needle is on 0. Then up to 14 during use. During a backwash its down to 10.5 and then after a 20 second backwash and 10 second rinse (basically until the water in the sight glass was running clear)...

Heat pump vs electric heater for a UK pool

Thank you needsajet the filter says max 6m3/hr on the label and the guague you mention reads 14bar I couldn't find the actual flow rate of the pump. I assume it's between 5 and 8 m3/hr?

This is where I come unstuck. I can't see a model number on the multiport valve (am I looking at the right part?) Here are some photos of my setup

Heat pump vs electric heater for a UK pool

Thanks needsajet. The heat pump requires 5-8 m3/hr but I'm struggling finding a model number for my pump to check this. On the multiport valve it says Midas but that's as much info as I can get.. Do you think with a 6000 galon pool I'll have a pump that supplies between 5-8 m3/hr ?
