pH spike with Orenda quartz plaster start-up

I think I figured out why my readings of the CH were so unreliable with the TF-100 test kit. I think that the drop sizes were variable. To resolve the issue, I squeezed the tube slightly while still upright to create a small amount of negative pressure. And then when I turned the tube to put...

pH spike with Orenda quartz plaster start-up

1 - I am using a Speedstir. I thought it was interesting that I go so much variance in the CH with the TF-100. 2- Thanks for the verification on the colors. Nice to have a second opinion. 3 - Thanks for the guidance. I will continue to add Muriatic Acid until I get the pH down. 4- Yes. I am...

Owner Builder in Sacramento - Just starting - looking for planning advice

They are tiles that I put in before the plaster. We got them from Aqua Blue Mosaics. They turned out really nice. At the deep end we have a $100 tile. I put some of the old artificial turf down for the meantime.

pH spike with Orenda quartz plaster start-up

Pool plaster with quartz sand, white. Just finished (April 15). We filled the pool with hose water over night. 16,000 gallons, using the Orenda start-up method. When the water was a few inches high, I added 1.5 quarts of Orenda SL-1000 My tap water had 50 CH, so per the app recommendations I...

Owner Builder in Sacramento - Just starting - looking for planning advice

Finally filling it up. We ran into a lot of delays with the plastering. Super excited to jump in! The artificial turf that we ordered from China is also delayed, so we have a pool surrounded by gravel for another few weeks :(

Will my home water be okay in filling new plaster pool?

Do I add the Calcium little by little as the pool is filling up and try to maintain the 250ppm? Or wait until it is full? I am feeling a little overwhelmed about the start-up procedures. There is a lot of information and a lot of different opinions on the proper approach. I want my plaster to...

Different pvc pipe sizes at construction site?

The plumbing ended up being fine. I got a separate line for each return. The only issue with too small of pipes was that they used 1.25" electric conduit instead of 1.5" as I specified in the plans. It was a beast trying to pull 4 awg wires 200 feet. I almost gave up. But finally got it through.

The Pool is almost done... Roseville, Ca.

I also like the deep pool and plan on building various jumping platforms to my owner builder pool also in the Sacramento area. I planned on 8 feet water depth. The excavators I contracted put the pool about 6 inches lower than everything else in my backyard yard (they got the elevation wrong...

Pre-plaster questions: Step tile grout? and Light or no light?

Thanks for the tips. I am getting the basic white smooth plaster so I think it will look good between the step tiles.

Pre-plaster questions: Step tile grout? and Light or no light?

I just finished installing the coping (12"x12" silver travertine) which I think turned out great! I also just finished the step-tile (2"x2" glass tile). I am doing the tile and coping myself, and hiring a company to do the plastering. Question 1: Do I need to grout the step-tiles, or will the...
