Hayward Super II Pump finally died. Need recommendations.

Dude, Do you have a stake in the company? With all due respect. Who gives a Crud about some random brick and mortar store. I can buy locally as well and get all the support I need. Plenty of locations in California that are not in Texas. Plenty of stores and plenty of pools In California. Why...

Hayward Super II Pump finally died. Need recommendations.

I don't see myself getting some off brand, Chinese pumps. I spent all day yesterday, looking up Calimar. One guy mentioned their customer service doesn't exist. And someone else mentioned to keep their parts in stock to do a quick rebuild. I don't have time for that nonsense. I just want...

Hayward Super II Pump finally died. Need recommendations.

Pump finally died! super 2 pump started smoking during a major rain storm a week ago. I posted this question a few years back when I was seriously thinking about replacing it. https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/hayward-1-5-hp-replacement.264704/ But decided to wait, big mistakes. These...

    hayward 1.5 hp replacement.

Was reading this thread recently: Hayward Super Pump Leaking in front of seal plate I have the kind of issue, tried to use some silicon to seal the leak, but it didn't solve the issue. I've wanted to replace this dinosaur for a while, and now I have my excuse. Just the electricity cost alone...

Has anyone seriously considered using Shade balls as an alternative....

I really wasn't concerned with the math to be perfectly honest. Cost wasn't an issue. Effectiveness and practicality are. Yes, my math was not accurate. But either were my pool dimensions. My pool is not a perfect rectangle. It's oddly shaped and I measured my pool by taking steps with my feet...

Has anyone seriously considered using Shade balls as an alternative....

Skimming the top of the pool is a factor sure. One that requires some thought, but like I said, it's very rare we get anything that floats on the top of the pool. A dirty pool is going to become dirty regardless if you have balls on top of it or not. The things falling from the outside air are...

Has anyone seriously considered using Shade balls as an alternative....

Where in the heck are you going to put them when someone wants to use the pool??? (Throwing them on the deck is not an option). Our pool is 14 x 18 feet. 252 ft x 12 = 3024 inches. if each ball is 100mm ~ 4 inches. 3024 / 4 = 756. Lets round up to 800 to be safe for now. We have 4, 96 gallon...

Has anyone seriously considered using Shade balls as an alternative....

Yea, in SoCal we hardly ever get rain. But yes i'm 100% sure dirt and pollen will get into the pool, and that's not an issue. The goal isn't to throw the balls in and forget it. It's to figure out a way to decrease the amount of chemicals and water being consumed yearly for a pool that never...

Has anyone seriously considered using Shade balls as an alternative....

I don't see how someone falling in the pool would change anything if there was a single layer of balls or even two layers of balls, if they can swim, they can get out. If anything else falls in the pool, that's irrelevant since ill most likely be removing the balls once a week to check chemistry...

Has anyone seriously considered using Shade balls as an alternative....

After watching this video by Veritasium For some home owners that never uses their pool and has to continue to dump hundreds to thousands of dollars of chems each year. Why is this not the one and only solution compared to the rest. If you fall into this category... 1. Never use your pool 2...

What are the pros and cons of a pool cover?

I've tried to research this as much as I could, but I really want an answer to my specific situation... No one has used our pool in 5-10 years. And just a constant bill for us with the water and chlorine. I've even thought about emptying the pool until we decide to just fill it up again. It...

Any product recommendations for buying CYA online?

yea, looks like my local pool supplier is selling 50 pounds @ $100 ~~ $2/pound 100 pounds @ $190 ~~ $1.90/pound Hasa Brand. way better deal than that 25 pound ebay listing. my walmart no longer carries pool products. So basically can't even find the clorex product. And it's not listed on...

    Couple of issues with equipment

After reading a bunch of other posts, I understand what you're saying about shaving the sides. But I was under the assumption that the issue was at the connection point to the skimmer. https://www.amazon.com/Skimmer-Replacement-Pentair-85001500-Admiral/dp/B003UNWVN8 Specifically here: I...

    Couple of issues with equipment

equalizer assembly sits at the bottom of the skimmer unit. It sits on an o Ring. That o ring keeps the equalizer assembly in place. After a while, I noticed the the equalizer assembly has lifted off that O-Ring and bumps into the skimmer basket. Rendering the equalizer assembly useless as it...
