    Alkalinity won’t rise above 90

    Thank you! The second link is where I determined that I needed to Thank you. I guess I was trying too hard to stabilize my pH and thought that the low TA levels were the culprit causing me too add 10-15 oz of acid a day. I just never had to do this before the replaster.

    CSI is .06 with the pH at 7.6….it shoots up to .65 when the pH rises to 8.2.

    How do I stabilize the pH so it doesn’t swing? It was 8.2 and I added acid and now it’s 7.4 (good). Tomorrow it will be 8.2 (or close) again. I never had this issue before we re-plastered the pool.

    Wait…what? I thought to raise TA I needed to add baking soda? How do I raise the TA?

    FC = 3.5 CYA = less than 20 pH = 8.2 (I’ve added acid since) TA = 90 CH = 400

    Yeah, low TA is my problem.

    Alkalinity won’t rise above 90

    Mine was 70….now at 90. I’m seeing different suggested values ranging from 50-130 but my pool is eating acid like a kid with skittles so that is why I was shooting for >100.

    I’m using the TF-100 kit and it says the TA should be 100-120. I am not using the pool math but I will after I do a complete analysis. I am adding acid to lower the pH but I’m having to add it daily.

    Alkalinity won’t rise above 90

    Just had pool replastered 5 weeks ago and I realize that it’s common for the TA to be low but I’ve added about (10) 16 oz boxes of baking soda 1-2 at a time for several days and as expected, I’m struggling to keep the pH in check. It’s always around 8.2. Pool is about 12,500 gal and manually...

    Are chlorine tabs causing buildup on my tile?

    I do like the feel of the water, even after a few years. Your skin doesn’t have the white crusty look when the water evaporates.

    Are chlorine tabs causing buildup on my tile?

    Thanks. As you know, here in the southwest, our evaporation is horrendous. This is why I add a water softener. I was hoping to eliminate or greatly reduce the buildup on the tile.

    Are chlorine tabs causing buildup on my tile?

    Yes, tabs are pretty much all I use unless I need to shock it or I might add liquid chlorine if I need to get the chlorine level up quickly. We were gone for 6 months (April to October) and I hired a pool service that only comes once a week. I’ll try adding some of the scaling in MA.

    Here’s the picture of the tile and the ingredients of the chlorine tablets. Let me get the CSI number.
