    Granite for a spillway?

Thank you! Those threads were very helpful. Especially the ones about the need for a drip edge.

    Granite for a spillway?

Yes, that is correct. The granite will only be cosmetic to the pool structure. What I have now, is a plastic insert of some sort. Appears to be made out of the same material a kitchen cutting board is made from. Looks tacky.

    Granite for a spillway?

Basically, the ‘slot’ that the water goes through. Most pools/spas have some sort of notched area between the spa and pool that allows water to flow through for a waterfall effect.

    Granite for a spillway?

I am going to replaster my pool and while I’m at it it, I’m going to change out my tile and spillway. The company that is doing the plaster said they make a new spillway out of granite. Does anyone have a granite spillway? I have a friend with one and after 8 years, their vertical sides are...

    Advice on pool renovation.

Yeah, works ok for the light stuff (it gets flushed over the spillway) but anything heavy just stays on the bottom. 😩

    Advice on pool renovation.

Ok, it looks like the floor cleaner is what is filling the spa when it cycles anround and causing water to go over the spillway.

    Advice on pool renovation.

Sorry, I do have an option to turn on the spillway and I do run it for 15 minutes a day. However, the pool pump circulates water through the pool in a line that runs thru the spa also. This is also where the spillway is (spa to pool). So as the pump runs it pumps water into the spa which spills...

    Advice on pool renovation.

The spillway runs all the time because the way the pool is plumbed. I use tabs to chlorinate the pool. Maybe I should switch to liquid?

    Advice on pool renovation.

I’m preparing for a pool and deck renovation. Re-plaster, new tile, new spillway (scupper), and re-do the cool deck. I’m most concerned with getting a tile that will resist the calcium buildup. Maybe glass, since it is the smoothest? I already use a water softener for make up and that helps...

    Replacement for FNS48?

I’m having trouble with my ~20 year old FNS leaking in various locations so I’m considering replacing it. Is there a better filter or should I just get a new one (FNS58)?

Knocking CH Out of the Park

Matt's water softener install got me motivated and I just finished installing my WS for pool make up water. It is dedicated to the pool and I have another one for the house. Here in Havasu, the evaporation is even worse than what Matt sees. We are hotter here. Water is cheap here and I used to...

    No propane to heater

No I didn't. Where I disconnected the coupler, is about 6" from the valve on a straight section of pipe just before the 90 deg (Elbow) that goes into the heater and then into the valve. It looks like I need to remove the pipe on the inlet of the valve then remove the valve from the manifold.

    No propane to heater

It’s flowing after the regulator just not after the valve.

    No propane to heater

I did disconnect the gas pipe at the coupling that is just before the valve and after the shutoff and regulator. I didn’t measure it but gas was flowing pretty good. When the call for heat sends 24v to the valve, there is no gas to the manifold.

What piece of plumbing makes the bubbles in the spa?

Yes I do but they are working fine...spa does not drain back into pool. Like I said in a previous post, all is good now after cleaning the filter even though the filter wasn't that dirty....I think something was restricting the flow BEFORE the filter and backwashing and/or cleaning the filter...

What piece of plumbing makes the bubbles in the spa?

Yes, I think so. both of them (two different gauges tried separately) went to zero when the pump was off. And they both registered the same pressure when the pump was on.

What piece of plumbing makes the bubbles in the spa?

That makes sense but two different gauges were showing the filter as still being clean. When I cleaned the filter, it wasn’t very dirty (it’s been dirtier) and the gauge still says clean now but flow is much better. I can’t help thinking that there was some sort of restriction before the...

    No propane to heater

I have a Laars LT400P heater and when I turn it on, the fan comes on, then I can see the igniter glowing but the heater never fires up. I checked the voltage to the valve and it is getting 28 volts (should be 24). If the igniter is glowing, should all the other safety switches be satisfied and...

What piece of plumbing makes the bubbles in the spa?

update: Since I first posted this, I was getting intermittent bubbles in the spa....sometimes it would make bubbles and sometimes it wouldn't. Then the flow to the spa (makeup?) when in pool mode stopped....then it would be very slight. My filter gauge said "Clean" so I tried another gauge and...

What piece of plumbing makes the bubbles in the spa?

Nothing has changed since it was working a few days ago. The filter gauge is just about a 1/4 the way to being dirty so I don't think the filter is clogged (?). So if air is introduced thru the vent pipe, what keeps the pump from pushing the water out of the vent pipe? Path of least resistance...

What piece of plumbing makes the bubbles in the spa?

I'm having an issue where I no longer get bubbles coming out of the jets in the spa. If I use a shop vac and blow in to the vent pipe it works for awhile. I would like to know what kind of contraption allows air to be introduced in to the jets. Is it just a Y pipe and water going thru creates a...

For those of you in the southwest that use a water softener for make up

Do you notice a dramatic decrease in CH and scale buildup on tile? I know that the water is going to be soft but during the regeneration process of the water softener, the calcium is replaced by sodium (salt) on the resin beads and I wonder if this is going to be deposited on the tile instead...

Pump keeps running even though AquaLink says it's off

I came home to a dirty pool after being gone for a few days and found that the breakers in my Aqualink RS power center and the main panel for the pool were tripped, I reset them and now the pool pump runs constantly, The control panel says the pump is off. If I set the control to "Service" or...
