ScreenLogic connection when not at home

I use the iPhone version of Screenlogic Connect. When connecting remotely the first time, I have to type "Pentair:" before the 6 character address (without quotation marks). It should look like this: Pentair: xx-yy-zz

What have you found in your skimmer...

Not too far away, in downtown Phoenix, the only critter I've seen is a poor little waterlogged gecko. I'm guessing you're not in downtown Tuscon.

Greetings from another Phoenician! You're at the right place -- there's great info on this site, both on the forums and in the Pool School libraries.

    Dry acid swim time

I'd recently begun using dry acid to lower pH in my 1,000 gal in-ground spa, and I've only used a few ounces of a 5 Lb container. But I now see that sulfate build-up is a concern. Is there any way to test for sulfate concentration in the water? In other words should I switch back to muriatic...

In search of a dimmable pool light

Thanks, Allen. There's a possible path forward in CraigMW's post on that thread using a Pentair SpaBrite 120v light, an Intellitouch dimmer module, and an aux circuit on the EasyTouch controller.

In search of a dimmable pool light

We’ve recently upgraded pumps, controls and automation for our 1,000 gallon in-ground spa, and the next item on the list is a new light to replace the 20-year old incandescent unit. This fixture, long inoperative, was originally wired to an X10 dimmer switch that was removed when we installed...

Sand Filter Flow Rates: Max, Min, and Optimal

Much appreciated, Mark. Thanks for addressing this and my other questions. I'll keep an eye on the skimmer at various pump RPMs to find the lowest rate that shows positive flow over the skimmer weir door.

Is DE in a sand filter only a short term thing?

Will back washing the sand filter remove the added DE? In other words, will new DE need to be added after each back wash?

Sand Filter Flow Rates: Max, Min, and Optimal

I'm trying to determine the optimal settings for both economy and effective filtration with my variable-speed pump. My sand filter specs show: filtration area of 1.92 sq. ft. filtration gpm/sq. ft. = 20 gpm filtration flow rate of 38 gpm (i.e., 20 x 1.92) Questions: Should I consider 38...

    Greetings from Phoenix!

We don’t cover it. It’s not heated when not in use, but the filter pump runs daily.

    Greetings from Phoenix!

Thanks for the great info! I never knew that pH would return to pre-treatment levels once the FC dropped as well. But I’m guessing I’ll be saying “I never knew that” a lot as I peruse TFP.

    Greetings from Phoenix!

Hello, everyone-- We have a 1,000 gallon in-ground spa, lined with tile, about 20-years old with recently upgraded pumps, controls and heater. I had been mainly using 1" trichlor, with a drain-and-refill every one to two years. Having read through much of Pool School over the last week I'm...
