    Questions regarding pool closing.

Thank you for bringing me into reality. While I've not had any power loss here there is a first time for everything. The thought of dealing with the pool in an extended loss of electricity situation is disconcerting. Without further reading, I'll be closing the pool.

    Questions regarding pool closing.

I normally go to the local pool company and hire their people to close the pool. However, the majority of the time, the people sent don't have a clue regarding closing a salt water pool, let alone, a non-vinyl inground pool. Ours is gunite. I always end up hoping it makes it through the...

Algae treated and water still not crystal clear

yes I did. Chlorine dropped less than 1 the past two nights. I thought the hot day yesterday would have dissipated the chlorine more with the CYA at 50. It's going to rain this afternoon so maybe that will dilute some things.

Algae treated and water still not crystal clear

Thank you all for your input on the SLAM. It took a day to understand I needed to add multiple gallons in a relatively short period of time in order to get the FC up to the required level. But I got it there by Tuesday evening. The pool is crystal clear. Checked the FC, CYA and Ph Wednesday...

Algae treated and water still not crystal clear

Tested FC at 3, CYA at 40 and PH at 7.6. Added more chlorine and will check again in the morning. I also learned this evening others in the countryside are having troubles balancing their pools. We had a significant amount of rain last week (while I was sick). Undoubtedly added to the imbalance.

Algae treated and water still not crystal clear

I started with an FC of 0. And keep the FC at 12 for how long? I'll test again tomorrow as I added the CYA this afternoon and it was not very much. All the other readings adjusted to near normal with just adding the chlorine.

Algae treated and water still not crystal clear

It seems I keep adding the liquid chlorine until FC tests at 12? I started the process with the required water balance and where FC was 0 it is now at 2. At this rate I'll need to add about another 10 gallons or at least until the FC gets to 12? My dad was the chemist in the family and I have...

Algae treated and water still not crystal clear

when I started trying to do the SLAM process, the ph was at 7.0. The posted results were from adding 3 1/2 gals pool chlorine and nothing else. And today I added some CYA. So do I start over and get the ph back down or continue adding just chlorine?

Algae treated and water still not crystal clear

I was sick when the pool was opened by people I hire. They shocked the pool and nothing more as is usual. I usually begin bringing the pool in balance and have had great success since 2016 when we installed the pool. This time I was sick. Before I was well enough to balance, I had algae...

New Pool owner and confused with SWG and Cl levels

I really didn't understand what the Pool Output stood for. Thank you. It is set at 50%. Up until now I've only tested the Chlorine and the pH. I was told not to worry about the other tests. I'll attempt them tomorrow and see what I come up with. Thank you, Carol

New Pool owner and confused with SWG and Cl levels

Thank you for reassuring me the chlorine is not too high. The chlorinator has three lights on. I have ScreenLogic Connect. Other than checking Salt level and turning on the heater or spa, I've been hesitant to do anything else. If the salt reading is running between 3600 and 3750, should I...

New Pool owner and confused with SWG and Cl levels

I have a fairly good test kit in the TAYLOR K-2006 Complete Swimming Pool/Spa Test Kit FAS-DPD K2006. Is it not reliable? Also, the builder has had us keep the system running since it was turned on in July. They set the SWG output setting. A technician is coming the end of this week to...

New Pool owner and confused with SWG and Cl levels

Our pool was finished mid July 2016. For the first five weeks it was on chlorine tablets while the plaster cured. Then switched to salt. I thought I was learning and understanding how to keep the pool balanced. However, while the salt reading is around 3600 the Cl is reading at the deep pink...
